I know im sad but i have always wondered what the white bit on a teabag is made of any ideas anyone>?

I've had some posh tea bags which are supposedly made of silk. Seems like an excuse to charge more money, methinks.

If you mean the mesh that holds the tea then it's made of paper, if you mean the string, that's made of cotton.

I would have to say paper. yummy...tea is so good. the other day I got a free sample of rasberry tea in the mail and it was soooo good.

cotton that has been bleached, and still has traces in it when you make ur cuppa! (although De-caf tea is even worse for ya!)
