look at it this way....even if you supposed that Jesus by his teachings was very liberal for his day....that day was in first century c.e.. The world has become a bit more socially liberal in the 20 centuries that followed after. So those who try to emulate his life as much as possible (using things in addition maybe to some of his teachings), its naturally going to come off as conservative since a few thousand years of social thinking has adjusted standards of what is conservative vs what is liberal.

Im not saying any of this is bad or to be unexpected but as time passes so do peoples mentalities. If humanity ever got to the year 4,000, our most liberal thinkers in all likelyhood would be looked at as pretty conservative as well amongst other things.

Jesus was not a "hippy." Robes, long hair and a beard were traditional in that day. Right there you expose your self as ignorant on the subject.

It's hard to transfer what Jesus taught in that day to present times, politically speaking.

Example; Because he saved the woman caught in the act of adultery, does that mean he would be against ALL death penalty cases?

And, if you noticed, while he saved her, he didn't back down on saying she was wrong. ("Go & sin no more.") I can imagine liberals screaming, "Who are you telling her what to do with her own body!"

He obviously wanted the poor to be taken care of, but does that mean he would have wanted the government to be in charge of it? And 50% of the rich man's income being confiscated to pay for it? That sounds more like Robin Hood than Jesus Christ!

He said you have to pay your taxes, but would he have voted for a politician who advocated fixing things by higher taxes?

He taught obedience to the government, but does that mean he wanted a big government?

I can't imagine Jesus being anything but disgusted by mid to late- term abortions, but the Bible is not specific on the subject. The issue of "when life begins" would have to be answered, first.

But as far as issues like trade unions and strong regulation of business, strong environmental regulations, animal rights & gun control, it's hard to say, exactly.

this is physically powerful! the biggest distinction is: Conservatives have self belief in God, smaller government, and private accountability. Liberals go through a psychological sickness and have self belief (study as dream) that the State (i.e. government) might desire to play the situation of God with a view to create a Heaven in the international (the place there is not any choose for for own accountability b/c the government will make all possibilities for all persons). i'm noticeably useful that's what the story above gets at.

If you actually read all 66 books of the Bible, you'd see that Jesus wasn't a hippy, he was just full-filling prophecy.

In all honesty, that is an American mentality. French people are Catholic and not particularly conservative.
