Each person has their own spin on a dish -- they vary the ingredients and the seasonings ever-so-slightly to come up with flavor variations. Then there is the presentation, which can really be great art. Take a look at a Japanese lunch box, for example. They not only make an art of presenting the food, but the lunch boxes, plates, chopsticks, table mats, EVERYTHING are part of the presentation. It is Art.

And even a little variation can change the texture or the smell.

The sad thing is that it isn't a long-lasting art; the food quickly dries out or loses it's appeal if it isn't eaten within a short time period. But it's still an art.

Cooking is art, because art has to do with skills. One must possess the skills to make something beautiful or artistic. Just like a chef must have the skills to make something flavorful and tasty. Everyone can cook, but to make something from a recipe book and actually have it look like the picture is true art and one must possess the skills to do so. Just like people who enjoy painting, you can paint but to make something artistic or worthy of selling takes true skills, practice and the ability to know how things go together.

How does an artist know exactly which blends of color will work together to capture the right image? Because it is the skill of an artist. Just like cooking and knowing what blends of flavors work together to form the perfect meal. It's all about skill and ability to make things work together to bring it to it's peak and best.

because the way, amount, type of ingredient you put into each dish and in which order matters when you're cooking or baking. It's like how you're going to paint an abstract painting or compose a piece of music or write a drama script or choreograph a dance.
