For the past three Valentines Days, and for the last three years for that matter, I have been completely alone and really wish not to spend this Valentine's Day in this manner.
I was wondering if any of you might have any advise regarding techniques for meeting someone either before this date, or on Valentine's Day itself.
I seem almost pathologically unable to get a girl to see me as anything beyond a plutonic friend despite my best efforts to get them to see me as "something more".
I currently volunteer at several organizations which I support, but also where I hope to meet someone, regularly peruse the bar/club scene, and have even used pheromones in an attempt to meet someone.
While I would love to meet someone with whom to have a complete relationship, I have begun to realize that this is simply too much for someone like me to hope for. Thus, I would be equally appreciative to receive advice for how to attract a girl who was only interested in a "one night stand".

I’m 23 years old and have a nagging worry that I am spending what should be the best years of my life alone…

I'm only guessing, but you may be trying too hard. Relax a little and let the chips fall where they may. Sometimes it's just not in the cards for certain people to have relationships or one night stands for that matter. Sit back and watch, I mean really pay attention to the women you are around. Then once you think you may be able to handle a conversation with someone, approach them and be cool about it. Don't seem too eager, just be yourself. In the end, you'll find the woman of your dreams.

This is a complicated problem, bro. If you are average looking or above, then just hit an online dating site. It takes a bit of practice, but you'll get the hang of it. If you are below average in looks (and you're not just imagining it) then you need to put in extra hard work. This is where your situation can become complicated. Email me if this is the case, as I know some secrets that can help you get the ladies. Don't forget that it is Nature's obligation to find you a partner (50% women, 50% men on the planet, not a coincidence.)
Also, try a posting on Craig's List near Valentine's day. There are a lot of people in the same boat as you, and it's a friendly site (at least in my city, that is). Good luck!

You are in the drivers seat as far as Valentines day goes! There are plenty of girls sitting there hating that holiday for being alone. You don't need a girlfriend to make it a great day, it could even be your first date with someone new.
Think about your circle of friends and associates: somebody has to have a sister or coworker or roommate or friend who would love to have a date on Valentine's. Plan something fun and romantic, ask her out in a fun and romantic way, and you need never be alone on Feb 14th again.

Screw Valetines Day! Why wait for Valentines Day to celebrate love and friendship when that can be done everyday? The prices of Valentines Day gift went way up and we're all saving our money while those people waste cash!

If you do not want to spend Valentine's Day alone then I suggest putting yourself out there on the *dating market* by letting anyone and everyone know that you are AVAILABLE and LOOKING! Maybe people only want a plutonic relationship because they do not realize that you are available for dates. You need to not be so shy and just start asking girls out. If one girl rejects you and says "No" or "You're not my type" or "I already have a bf" then move on to the next one and ask her out, etc, etc..
You have 11 days, get yourself a date, hunny! Go to dinner and a movie and have fun!
Good Luck

youre never alone Yoda is with you always. and i hate to say this but quit wussin out . get out there man and ask a gal out. whats thje worst that can happen-she says no? I cant count the rejections i have gotten but I finally got the love of my life been with her 15 years and I am frikkin pathetic. are ya friendly? have decent morals? drug free? I tell you there are women out there. you do know they outnumber us males right? and they live longer.
keep tryin and knock off this poor little ol me routine-you're better than that I can feel it. Unless that works for you.. anyway be honest, be a gentleman and trust me you will find someone, JUst have faith in yourself and dont give up. as for a one night stand in the long term you'd be better off spending valentine's day alone.

Find a good hooker. It'll be cheaper in the long run, she wont care if you buy flowers and you don't have to deal with her on Feb. 15th.

Forget Valentines day. It is for lovers. Even if you get a date between now and then the night will be meaningless. I don't think anyone on the planet does not go through life without some miserable Valentines days. Just shake it off.
What I would work on if I was you is something in the "scoring" line without a time frame on it. Don't worry about the wasting your twenties thing, you are still very young my man. And living is never wasteful because it results in experience and you gaining character.
You sound like you actually do like yourself which is the first step. You are proud of your volunteer contributions.
Maybe you should stop approaching girls to be your friend, actually approach them with a romantic style. Don't waste your time on female friends.
Girls are attracted to the sizzle not the sausage. They will get turned on by what you've been up to or the way you come across more than by how good or bad you look on face value or whatever.
Mate millions of guys are out there trawling the bar scene to no avail.
I would concentrate on one girl at a time. But approach many before you get your foot in the door.
You are either confident and coming across in a way women find unattractive like try to hard or suck up, or you are paralysed by fear to ask anyone out at these bars.
If you are confident and have high self esteem and getting nowhere, your problem is that you do not understand the game. It is a psychological game between men and woman. Don't go up to a girl and say "you look lovely tonight", they have probably heard a variation on that 5 times that evening and its boring to them because it poses no challenge, they think you are easy and that is the ultimate turn off for women.
Just be yourself and say something you actually say regardless of how stupid you think it sounds. It will weed out the girls who would cause you grief and leave someone nice.
Make it brief, all you want to do is get that phone number and make a good impression Girls are so used to meeting idiots that its not that hard if you just go up to one and be a normal person having a conversation and ask them out. Obviously you have to smile and add an element of drama. Its all about capturing the moment. You have just one chance to make it or blow it. Once you have those digits leave them for like 5 days and then call and say something very simple and interesting about what you've been doing. Just one! Then let them talk and laugh at their jokes and let the conversation die. NOW what you have done is put that thing about you into their mind. Now leave it another five days for that thing to percolate. I guarantee you on that second call they will answer enthuisiastically and then you can talk and ask her out and repeat the process. When you are out let her talk as much as possible and reveal a few, but only a few interesting things, not boasting about your volunteering but giving a taste of your personality- just a taste. So she will want to see you again. Two days later text and say you had a great time and she was fun. 2 days after that call and ask her out again. You have to play hardball my friend it will pay dividends. You have to look at things from girls point of view. Imagine if a girl came up to you and repeatedly complimented you and then boasted about things and you'd only just met her, you'd think she was a nutter. Another thing about women to understand is that they are not in a hurry, so don't you be. Most men fail because they rush things and it comes across as too strong for a laid back woman.
If you are the nervous type, who doesn't know how to approach women. Simple answer: walk up and start talking. If you fail try try again. And apply above principles.
You could try for example to set targets for nights out. ONe week it could be to say hi to 5 girls. The next to talk to five girls, the next to talk to five girls and put your hand on the small of their back. The next week to ask five girls out after talking to her. Vary this according to how you are going.
Just relax for now and have a long term approach. Valentines day is just another day for people who aren't lovers.
Good luck man. Good guys deserve to excel. I think you will
