A puppy has all the emotional and companionship needs of a human baby. It will take time and patience.

It may help to keep him awake from after 5 or 6 pm, until bedtime

Yes, don't let him out of the cage again, even if he cries all night long, unless you want to sleep with him when he's full grown. He will get used to the crate if you are consistent, but EVERY time you let him out because he's crying, or come to the cage because he's crying, you are teaching him that crying works, and he will carry on for twice as long the next night. It will take anywhere from a few nights to a few weeks typically to get used to the new place. A stuffed animal can help, so can a warm water bottle (you can use a pop bottle) or a wind-up ticking clock near the kennel, these can help soothe him. Huskies are a very very vocal breed, so I'm sure you'll hear the chorus at least a few nights yet. I reccommend tough love and good earplugs.

Guess what, it's what some puppies do! I wish there was a better answer, but that's just how it works when you get a puppy sometimes. It's like a kid - there can be A LOT of sleepless nights involved.

Can you move the kennel into your room? Can you keep him in your room with a belly band on? Can you play a TV or a radio? Can you stay with him until he falls asleep?

Some pups can make it through the night rather easily. As long as they stay asleep, they won't have a potty urge. If you feel them or hear them wake up, then rush them outside. Not all are like this and you really really have to be aware of them to make this even an option. It was easy for us because our girl sleeps under the covers with us and we can feel her the second she starts to get restless.

First, congratulations on your sibe pup! He's going to be a furry handful but definately worth it. I still have this problem with my lil girl and she's almost 6 months old. I made the mistake of letting her sleep with me her first week home, and now if I put her in her crate and go into the other room for a few minutes before bed she will usually cry and cry until I come into the room to sleep. It will be alot easier if you start ignoring her and let her cry it out to at the beggining here. Most puppies (just like children) don't have an understanding of the world and think that if something disapears from thier sight it has vanished from the world. This is most likely why he is crying. It will be very hard but you have to let him cry, once he learns that by crying it will make you come back he will keep doing so. Huskies are very pack oriented so its understandable that he will always want to be with you, but you have to try to let him be on his own a little, as they develop serious seperation anxiety if they don't (trust me, i made all the wrong moves with my baby girl and am now trying to get her out of the habits). Good luck and if you need anymore advice, feel free to ask and I will try to help you with anything I can, I'm still learning as I go myself. :)

You have to be patient. The next two months or so will be hard. Let it out to go pee. You have to keep him in the crate. DO NOT LET HIM OUT except to go pee. Puppies are more difficult than human babies. If you let him out every night, that's what he'll expect every night. If you want him sleeping in bed with you, go for it, but you're not doing him any favors. For the time being, put the crate as far away from your room as possible. If he barks, he barks. Once he realizes he's not coming out, he'll get in the routine and go to sleep. You have to walk him and play as much as possible during the day. Puppies have SO much energy and they need to burn it off or they'll be up at night. Right now he probably misses his litter mates, but he'll soon get over it. You have to be the boss. Like I said, the first two months or so are difficult, and you will have some sleepless nights, but it gets better. You will have a great dog if you raise and train him properly.

. Of coarse he is missing his first family. And he will get into trouble if he wanders at this young age.

Dogs are social, so I suggest putting the crate in your bedroom at night time, if you are not already doing that.

A warm water bottle under some blankets in the crate, can help...it will feel like the body heat he is used to. (NOT a heating pad, though).

The do make some kind of stuffed toy or something, which mimics the mothers heart beat.

it is only the first day.....you can't expect him to adust that quickly! If you have a fan you can turn on in the room..(not facing towards the pup)...it will also help with the silence which he is not used to. And will help sooth him.

Good luck!

Babies are babies, doesn't matter what species they are. He wants the warmth and closeness of someone so for now you will do. If crating him is not working shut him in a room like the laundry room or a room in the basement. You could stay with him to make this easier for him. Put down newspaper and start the puppy training right away.

Put him on a pillow and have an alarm clock(one that ticks) in the pillow case. It reminds them of their mom and it helps them fall asleep! Good Luck!

well i suggest some exercise before he goes to sleep. take him for a walk or run to wear down his energy.if you cant just play with him and make sure he gets tired. dogs will get very tired and want to sleep after they have exercised. and no matter what dont open the door for him because if they get you to open it one time then they will always try to get you to open it again. if he doesnt be quiet let him know that behavior is unwanted and a loud firm NO! will get that message across.
