Only as important as you make it.
And there's nothing right or wrong with that. Some people value intellectual prowess very highly-- whether it be for conversation, relationship longevity, or just good ole fashioned compatibility.
If you like the person, it should be for all of them. Education included. If you have an issue with their education level, then clearly their redeeming qualities aren't quite redeeming enough for you. If you can't look past it, then move on. You'll either meet someone that does satisfy your intellectual needs-- or meet someone mindblowing enough that it doesn't even matter.

Education is the magic key. After the sex cools some you want a partner you can relate to, on a meaning full basis. This does not mean you need lots of diplomas and letters after your name.Being an informed citizen and understanding the world around you is a must in these days of cooperate media pushing the official government propaganda. This has the effect of dumbing down the population at large, almost like mass hypnosis media is gearing up again to demonize Iran, by the way their only crime is sitting on massive oil deposits. Forget Israel security nonsense. Israel has over 200 nu_kes and if they didn't suffer Nazi Envy....treating Arabs to slow ge_noc_ide and daily humiliation Their could be easy harmony and co-existence. They sold their collective souls after the 6 day war, impressing us the evil empire to hedge our bets with them. So how to achieve peace and continue receiving 400Billion annually plus all that fancy Military equipment from us THE GREAT SATAN? See the corner they boxed themselves into?...Mary.

Differences in education levels can be a relationship breaker, in my experience. At first one might feel very attracted to a person and can overlook certain differences, but over time important issues and differences crop up that can really be bothersome if they're an important enough issue. I guess it depends on the issues and what else one has in common with the person in question.

The greater the education of both partners, the better chances the relationship/marriage has to survive. Studies also suggest that the marriage has a better chance when the educational levels of each partner are roughly equal.

It depends on the people in the relationship.
Not everyone feels the same way about education. Some people require that the ones they date have degrees, others simply don't care. Also, some people are actually intimidated if their partner has a degree if they don't. It really is case by case...

Perhaps there can be cases when educational background is a status for both but they really make a fight for being the most intelligent - I mean the man but the woman also. So it all ends to ask for an opinion coming from an outside person bc from the outside 'it might be more easy to judge the situation'. All ends with discovering: "who's wearing the hat in the house actually'. This really happened to me and it is really annoying to respond them if you donno how to manage not hearting any of the 2. Besides it is a question of behaviour on the side of the future wife I guess. But I donno it may depend no case similar possibly.

i dont think education is that important. i mean if u love the person, it shouldnt matter how intelligent they are or how much of an education they have.

depends on how picky your partner is. it is always great to know that you have an education but it by no means defines the relationship. it really depends on how you feel personally and what your partner thinks about it.
