If you believe in God or god or supernatural higher being of somesort, do you try to seek daily or hourly?

If there is a god of some sort, then he (or they) holds all the answers. A majority of people (at least in America) say they believe in God. So why not spend your daily life trying to find him?

If you get a comforting feeling from believing in god but don't know whether he's real or not, are you comfortable with the possibility that you're living a lie just to "feel good"?

note- I am a christain that believes God is absolutely real. I just wonder why people try to use him as a comfort net to fallinto whenthey need it, but after that they have no daily need for him.

I'm christian, and when I'm able because of my medical condition, I read, come on here answer questions, I have a group on yahoo on bible study, I'm listening right now as I work on here to different ministries....if I could I would study and research 24/7..he is my first and last thought daily.

heres something i work on al so daily since i had this dream , to try and do what i was told to do by the Angels. a lot of people on here hate it....when i put this on here...but i have to do what God has lead me to do...


I dreamed this 2 weeks before my father in law when in for triple by pass surgery, he was very sick, and weak, and they had given him a 50/ 50 chance of making it out of the hospital...he was in his early 70's...the doctors had been keeping and eye on a blockage he had in a artery for many years and it was getting bigger and giving him a lot of problems so they did all the scams, MRI, cat, x-rays and so on..and had this problem well documented...like I said I dreamed this 2 days before. My husband and I were young Christians at the time...about 8 months, anyway at the hospital we went in ,my husband, his sister, her pastor, and me and we gathered around his bed before he was to go in, I was holding his hand, and as we were praying, i got this feeling of calm and peace,I knew ever thing was going to be OK, well that day before we left home for the hospital, I couldn't get the dream off my mind, it was almost like angels were telling me over and over, to write it down, and it felt like a powerful urge to do so,it was driving me nuts, so I took a pad with me, and after they took him into surgery...I got comfortable with the family and started writing in a corner of the waiting room, the words flew out of my head and I was writing like I had never written before, you see I have a muscle disorder and i can't write and control my hands like I did years earlier...I wrote this in less than 25 minutes, and in less than 45 minutes they called out and said they couldn't find the blockage while they were doing the heart catherazation and his artresy were clear,and he could go home. that day
when i read what i had written ,it was a poem and I'm not a poet, and even if I was I couldn't have written it that fast. I had from the time I left home felt like i was with angels , why I don't know... well he went home that was 4 years ago and he's still doing good for an almost 80 year old man..so here's what I wrote that day, and a lot of people have read it and it has changed their life's, I claim no input for the poem other than the hand holding the pen...the words came from angels, directed by God.

THE DREAM

I DREAMED ONE NIGHT TWO ANGELS CAME TO MY BED. THEY TOOK ME TO HEAVEN I FELT I HAD NOTHING
TO DREAD. WE STOOD IN FRONT OF A BIG WHITE GATE. IT OPENED SLOWLY AS WE STOOD IN WAIT.
MANY CLOUDS BILLOWED AND SWIRLED ABOUT US AS I STOOD IN AWE OF THE SIGHTS AND SOUNDS THAT
SURROUNDED US. WHAT I SAW WORDS COULD NOT EXPRESS, I WANTED TO STAY AT THIS BEAUTIFUL ADDRESS.
THE ANGELS ALLOWED ME TO LOOK INSIDE, THE BEAUTY THE MAJESTY, MADE ME CRY.
"IT'S TRUE, IT'S ALL TRUE, I KNOW THAT IT'S TRUE" I HEARD MYSELF CRY, AS TEARS RAN STREAMING
FROM MY EYES.
I KNEW WHAT I SAW WAS NOT OF THIS EARTH,THIS CREATION WAS FOR THOSE OF THE NEW BIRTH. THE
POWER, THE BEAUTY, THE SIGHT OF IT ALL WAS SO STRONG,THAT THE ANGELS SHUT THE GATES QUICKLY
TO MY NEW HOME. "IT'S NOT YOUR TIME," I HEARD THEM SAY, " WE JUST WANTED YOU TO SEE WHAT WAS
ON THE WAY," THEY SAID "YOU WILL NOT REMEMBER WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN INSIDE THE GATE, BUT YOU WILL REMEMBER WHERE
YOU HAVE BEEN.YOU MUST TELL OTHERS ABOUT THIS DREAM. THAT GOD'S WORD IS TRUE. IT'S THE REAL THING.
GOD HAS LET YOU SEE WHAT IS YOUR REWARD IF YOU WORSHIP, LOVE HIM, AND KEEP HIS WORD."
WE ALL NEED TO REALIZE THAT IT'S REALLY TRUE. WE NEED TO GET THE LOST ONES IN IF IT'S ALL THAT WE
DO. WE DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME, THE END IS NEAR, AND YES, IF YOU ARE LOST YOU HAVE EVERYTHING TO FEAR.
CALL ON JESUS NOW, SO YOU CAN GO TO AND YOU'LL SEE WHAT I SAW AND YOU'LL BE EXCITED TOO.
I'LL SOON BE IN MY NEW HOME,PASS THE BIG WHITE GATES. DON'T YOU WANT TO GO THERE TOO? I JUST CAN'T
WAIT!!!!


I REALLY DREAMED THIS DREAM JUST AS IT IS WRITTEN. I FEEL IT WAS INSPIRED BY GOD AND HE GUIDED MY
THOUGHTS AND MY HAND IN PUTTING THIS TOGETHER.

I AM GIVING THIS TO YOU BECAUSE I LOVE YOU AND GOD HAS DIRECTED ME TO DO SO.
I HOPE THIS MESSAGE WILL HELP YOU TO MAKE THE BIGGEST DECISION OF YOUR LIFE
TO ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOR AND TO SERVE HIM. SO YOU, ONE DAY
WILL STAND AT THE BIG WHITE GATES AND BE INVITED IN TO STAY, FOR ETERNITY.

The God idea is a security blanket. People cling to this idea largely out of conditioning (They are told to believe in this God or burn forever in a lake of fire). Which brings me to the second reason why people claim to believe in this God. It is not out of a desire to know this God or have some sort of relationship with said being. It is entirely to avoid suffering forever after death!

Most so called Christians have no interest in the bible, church or God other then for the benifits to their social status and as a type of life line after death. They will do or say anything to avoid suffering. If these people had been told that the key to being safe in an after life would be to love Satan they would do it! It isn't as if they know anything about their bible God. All they know is the idea that this God figure is loving. An idea NOT supported by what is written in their own bible about this GOD!!

God is present in our heart. This can be realised in meditation. Further we are the creation of our own destiny. As per Hindu sacred religion, we carry all good and bad deeds life after life. There is no end unless we pray for unification of self with the divineliness.
Hence there is always a possible way to complete mergence with God in this life by a simple and wonderful meditation

Psalm 119:97 Oh, how I love your instructions! I think about them all day long.

The whole of Psalm 119 echoes the need for meditating on the scriptures ... afterall, God has promised us not only eternal life but abundant life isn't it right to reflect on His Words in gratitude for the gift of grace as well as for wisdom in our current state?

2 Timothy 3:16-17: All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

i think no body on the face of this earth can prove beyond a doubt god exists, i think that is the whole thing......u prove to god your faith even if u dont know he is real???? i beleive there is a god, i think that alot of mainstream religions may have it wrong with alot of the bogus expectations they put on people.....we have but one life for all we know because people cannot know for 100% sure that they are going somewhere after they die, example-why would god give us a body and attraction to the opposite sex if he expected us to get married then only have sex with one person for our whole lives.......i do think that if u asked someone 2000yrs ago if they thought the world was round or flat he would say flat and yet the world is based on a 2000 year old book that could just be folklore and stories?????? in conclusion i hope there is a higher power and i dont think anyone on earth can seek him/she/them out. i think everyone likes to think there is something, like a coping mechinism to cope with death???? love the question :)

I have wondered this myself. So many people pray when they need something but they don't remember to say a prayer of thanks. Or say one for situations going on around them.
We are told to have a prayer in our hearts at all times.
God so loves to hear from us. He want us to TALK to him about all of our hopes and dreams, problems, ideas, misunderstandings, everything!
God has been there for me daily in so many ways. I'm very grateful that he is there ready to assist or give guidance or sympathy, or help with what ever happens to be going on in our lives. I wish every one would reach out to him so they could have the same relationship with him !

if u try to be as close to god as posibly as u can , then its not seeking god daily or hourly as the main issue
what u should do is try to let god be an interral part of your life, i mean u should think god always, in every situation god has something to do what whatever it is, this maybe dificult at first

now to answer "why not spend daily life trying to find him", most people dont because they dont really believe in god

Your interpretation misses the doctrine of the trinity. Jesus submits to the father and the holy spirit submits to the son. You also miss verses when Jesus claims to be the first and the last, and when he makes himself equal to God. Alpha and Omega: John 8:58, "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" Father God has been asking humans the same question for thousands of years. He has said "Try me and see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour out blessings of more than you can imagine". That is why the Holy Spirit weeps so much for us.

I am a Deist and believe in a higher power, however, what we as humans can learn about that higher power is limited to what he has revealed in nature. To me that is a good thing, the mystery causes curiosity that leads to the search that results in human growth. Revealed religions, such as Christianity, do a disservice to human growth by removing the mystery.
