Absolutely. It's normal to bond with our faithful pets with the same depth of feeling we would have for a family member. We feel loss and grief at their passing. I still have warm feelings when I think of even my childhood pets, many years and tears ago. Best of luck.

Oh sweetie, of course it OK! There would be something wrong with you if you didn't!! You just lost your Best Friend after all! I lost my dog about 5 years ago and I still cry sometimes. But you know what? He will always be alive in your heart. Turn to your memories and be glad you have them - you'll find comfort there. Whenever I get sad I just turn it around and remember the good times we shared. It'll take time, so let time work for you. Whatever you do though don't go out right now and find another dog just yet, especially the same breed cuz you'll just compare them to him and that won't work. Take some time to heal...and heal you will my friend. Grieving is natural and you just can't get 'around' it - you have to go 'through' it. Your memories are guaranteed to be around forever and will never die. Reach for comfort in THEM.

I am sorry to hear that. Don't worry, is normal and human nature to miss a loved one (either a human or pet) who is not in this world anymore.
I have go through all this before, trust me, u will get over one day and ur dog will be in ur memory forever.
I also laugh by most of my friends for being "stupid" to reject jobs offer just to stay home and take care of my 8 yrs old dog which had a surgery on Dec and 1 more surgery to go.
Don't be too sad so that ur dog can rest in peace.

Yes of coarse it's OK to miss him. I'm so sorry. I know it's one of the hardest things you'll ever have to go through, losing a friend like that. Dogs can get closer to us than any human ever will because of how much we trust them. They never tell our secretes, will ALWAYS keep perfect care of our hearts and NEVER betray us. Their only problem is they just don't live long enough. I love dogs so much and to be perfectly honest, I cry for the death of dogs I don't even know including yours. Again I'm so sorry and I hope you know that you will see your baby boy again when we all meet in heaven.

Wasn't that the most painful thing you've ever gone through? I had to do that with my best friend 2 years ago, I miss her as much now as I did then. For me, the most difficult part was dealing with the fact that I had to make the decision, I don't want that much responsibility again. It does get easier but for now it's ok to miss him and remember the good times, that should help.

Well yes, it's OK and also very normal. Dogs are a big part of their owners' lives and will never be forgotten. You wouldn't want to forget anyway. It gets better with time, but you'll always miss hm from time to time, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's the price we have to pay for all the joy they brought us.

why do you need validation from strangers for your feelings??!! you don't. of course, it's fine and normal to miss a dog you cared a lot about. i'm sure he was a great dog and also loved you a lot, so of course it's sad that he has passed. you shouldn't ask your question here because it doesn't matter if other people say you shouldn't miss him. if some people say that, it's because they're fools, cold-blooded, or just trying to be a**holes on here. take care.

Sure. After all, it's having feelings that make us human. Since you've formed a bond with your dog, of course it's natural to miss him since he was once part of your life. I'm sure when your dog was alive, and you were away, your dog would have missed you too. Take your time to miss him, but know that you still have to carry out daily activities in life, and move on too.

absolutely! it would be heartless to not miss him after all your years together!
pets become family.
they don't say words that we can comprehend, but they can communicate with us. they tell us that they love us. that they're happy to see us, that they're hurting.
we in turn understand them. we do our best to anticipate their needs and provide for them in all circumstances. we give them all that we can because they give us all that they are
i had a cat that i loved above all things. my son's father got rid of him while i was pregnant and i was heartbroken. my son is almost four and i still miss that cat. i'll probably never want another cat because he was just irreplacable.
i have two dogs now. one is 5lbs, the other is 15-20lbs. one isn't much bigger than a cat, the other will never get as big as a cat at all. i wonder it that's subconcious....

Of course it's ok. My black lab is 10 and seems to be getting older by the day. I rue the day when she's gone. Perfectly normal to be sad. Hell, pets are part of the family, too.
