I'm a 16 year old guy, almost 17. Am I too young to be dating a 20 year old?

If not, then why is it wrong for a 20 year old guy to date a 16 year old girl? People just assume they're pervs then.

And let me just add this. I'm actually MORE mature than she is. I'm the one who has to make sure SHE doesn't do anything stupid (binge drinking, harrassing people when drunk, etc).

So if I'm mature enough then what's the problem?

We all view life through different lens. I think it's nice to know people's opinions, but ultimately, you ought to live life according to what makes you happiest. I somtimes feel like we are so controlled by society's rules dictating how we should live our lives.

My point is that, don't hope that your parents or friends in general will come to understand and accept what you're doing, what's most important is YOU understanding yourself and live life without regrets no matter the consequences.

I know like some girls are too girly and boring but guys are actually pretty cool and fun lol and its fun to be a tomboy (i grew up with 4 big brothers and my dad and cousin brothers). To be honest i dont think she really matters as long as both people in the relationship are happy together than thats all that really matters. Im 13 and my bf is 16 going to be 17 september23 and hes so sweet. Im glad your going to wait to have sex, im waiting too. It might be a little awkward dating a guy thats like 3 years older but it could be worse, the she difference between my parents is 8 years, a guy my dad knows is married to a lady that 12 years younger than him. Maybe if you just start talking to your mom about it than im sure she'll understand and will maybe even appreciate it that you did tell her instead of keeping it a secrat. Hope i helped

There alot of people doing this..your not the first..
If your having sexual relationships with this person ..then it is illegal..and she can go to jail if it gets out..

You may be more mature then her..like you said...but the police wont listen to that..they'll just take the facts.. and what they think went on in the relationship.

You should stay with people around your age group but..because there is alot of difference in maturity between a 16/17 and a 20 yr old.

It doesn't even matter which gender the people are, a 20 year old is too old to be with a 16 year old. Period. Plus to make it worse, women tend to mature faster in the first place. Plus it's illegal. Stick with girls around your age who are under 18.

No it's not ok, you are too young. But, I'm probably sounding like your parents. I figure, if you asked, you must be having a problem resolving it for yourself. A 20 yr old is a much different creature than a 17 yr old. Gender neutural. Wait until you're 20, you'll see.

Its considered to be statutory rape which could consider the older person a sex offender if caught. But we all know, that men who do this are looked down upon more than women who do it. Since you're a guy, I'm sure you get compliments on dating an older woman. But, if you two are just "dating" then its not illegal.

Not neccessarily. You can date whoever you want because nobody really cares. It is only illegal to have sex with somebody if youre ages are a lot deifferent apart. Except when your 18 then you can do whatever in your life. But youre 16.. you can date a 20 but dont have sex with him. thats wat makes it illegal.
