Recently I befriending a girl from yahoo answers, but every now and then she tries to convert me. Last night she said that I'll be a great testimony for Christians once I accept the love of Christ. This is not the first time some Christian tries to hide these intentions while befriending me. Why can't Christians keep their belief to themselves?

P.S. This girl is so desperate to see me go Christian that she sometimes tries to seduce me, but I have to respectfully decline. Okay, I'm just kidding. I just said it so she'll do some "gnashing of the teeth" when she reads it.

One of the ways people use to manipulate others is the use of "sexual prowess". Looks like she's doing it to you.

On a totally objective view, I'd like to point out that Christians aren't the only ones who do this. Everyone does. We use charm, arm-twisting, all kinds of ways to get our way. Threats, sugar, you name them, people do them. Whatever has worked for them in the past, whatever works for them now is what they use. Maybe one day, you'll hear the actual truth: Love frees you.

Maybe it is when people believe so much in their set of beliefs, they want to see everyone embracing it.

I have lots of Christian friends but they do not try to convert me and I do not try to convert them either. Everyone can make their own choices. I am there to answer questions if asked. If not, then why talk about beliefs anyway?

Peace

I don't know why you would try to label all Christians into this group unless you have witnessed this account by all Christians. To reach a soul is a primary goal of a christian other wise they are not a christian. Christian comes from Christ and it is in that image that we strive to be. Now on the other end of this thought there are many friends that I have with the intention of one day saving them, but if that day does not come then I was still a good friend to them. Every friend I have respects me to the highest esteem. Because they know that I love them and am sincere in my respect for them. To say that one day if the occasion arrived and I would not try to save them would be to say I don't love them. If your mom for instance was in harms way and you had the means to save her would you?

They look upon it as their duty as prescribed by their religion.

What they really can't see is how it appears from the other person's shoes. - DECEITFUL

Part of the problem is that the whole go out and proseletyze thing was intended for communities that had NO christians at all. This was the case when Jesus was around and then for about 300 hundred years or so until the roman emperor declared the empire's religion to be solely christianity.

In the modern age, you can't go down the street without tripping over a church and 2-3 starbucks coffee houses...

And given that, if you or I or anyone was interested in learning more, we could walk into one of those churches after grabbing our coffee.

Christians (and all other regions) throw out "bait" in the intent of snagging potential converts. Usually religions receive their believers directly from family, but since there is a natural attrition of believers they have to aggressively look for new recruits. Christians which compose 30% of the world population are very aggressive in their recruiting tactics considering they are competing against many other factions. It is in the best economic interest of any religion to have the most followers, for example, the catholic church is the richest organization in the world. Islam can't compete economically but they have the most zealot followers which gives them incredible power. It's all a game and the traps are set, so it's not surprising that someone is trying to seduce you in the name of some god.

Because they've been brainwashed: they've been told they should 'save' and 'redeem' as many 'lost souls' as possible;) they just don't realize that they're just pawns in the hands of scrupleless religious leaders whose only aim is (as it has always been) to control the world. I pity them, I really do, because they can't really see what's going on, and they really believe it's all about 'saving' people...

Obviously the "agenda" is no secret! If the Christian is right, what kind of friend would they be if they didn't tell you the truth about Christ love for you and your need for Him? Try not to be turned off, understand that it is not an agenda, but a heartfelt desire to see you reconcile with God.

Actually, almost every religion tries to convert people, for it is what they believe. I'm a devote Christain, and find nothing wrong with trying to give people the truth.

Christ sent the disciples out to reach and teach others about GOD's WORD and to convert them into Christianity. If you believed as we dio that you were going to end upin hell then you, too would care enough about others to do so. I am sure that she has done this out of LOVE and NOT hate. I am sorry that you don't think so. Have a great evening.

Well, the truth is is that no true born again Christian will try to convert you because they know that they can't covert anyone. It is Christ who converts - not anyone on this earth. As born again Christians (if your friend is truly born again herself), we know we can't convert anyone, but it is our duty as Christians to present God's word to people IF they're willing to listen. If you are not wanting to listen, then that's your choice. She is in the wrong for trying to force it down your throat. If she's just merely showing you the way to salvation through Christ, then there's nothing wrong with it. She is merely trying to show you the way to eternal life, but is not trying to convert you. I have given witness to many people of the Word of God, but if they don't want to hear any of it, then I simply say 'ok' and let it go at that. At the same time, I pray for them in the hopes that they will turn from their sin, confessing their sins to God and calling upon Jesus Christ for salvation. It's that simple. If someone rejects hearing about the gospel, then it's out of my hands - or any Christian's hands - it's up to the Lord after that because HE is the ONLY one who can convert - no sinful human being can save anyone spiritually - it's impossible and God has not given us that ability simply because we are sinners. Also, if God DID give us born again Christians the power to save people, then Christ would have died on the cross for nothing - in vain. So, there you have it. If your friend is a true born again Christian (and not someone merely 'mouthing' it), then she will NOT try to force her Christian beliefs on you - simple as that. All she can do is pray for you and that's it - nothing else. Born again Christians like myself are very well aware that we cannot convert anyone, but just merely leading people to Christ. If they choose not to hear it, then they bear the responsibility of their rejection of the Word of God - not the Christian. Hope this has been of some help to you.
