"Watashi wa" is correct. It means "I am."
"ore" and "boku" are just slang terms.
"ore" is kind of gangster Japanese.
"boku" is either (1) kind of humble or (2) a cool way for little girls to talk and pretend they are masculine. "Ore" and "boku" are both supposed to only be used by men.
"Atashi" is a kind of vulgar "I" used by girls.
"Watakushi" is a very polite "I" used by both.
"Wagahai" is an outdated "I" used by both.
"wa" means "be"
"desu" at the end of the sentence means "END OF SENTENCE"
"ka" at the end of the sentence means "QUESTION" (like "?")
Always use "watashi" no matter what other people suggest you use.
You can't go wrong with watashi.

Because Japanese is a language that holds politeness as an important factor in life.

Watashi is a formal, polite "I" useable by both men and women.

Boku is for males (or females when singing, but that's just because it keeps a better metre than watashi/atashi) but is informal.

"Ore" is a boastful I, used mainly by boys. It's rough and used a lot by people who are trying to sound "tough" (but, rather, are childish-sounding IMO).

The japanese language is very gender specific. Watashi wa is a way of saying i or me however that is the only one girls can say. A guy can also say it but will most often use Bokuwa. A girl must never say bokuwa unless they are using it as slang or just messing around, but it is formally inaccurate.

Further to most of the answers posted above, I'd like to add that "boku" can be used among equals or peers.

"Watashi" is a polite form and is a shortened form of "watakushi" which is very polite.
