You can get a sprinkler called a ScareCrow, at any garden center. It is a motion detecting sprinkler that will be certain to keep the cats out of your yard..It spritzes for 5 seconds each time it detects even a bird. You would want to turn it off before putting the dog out, though.
The other solution would be to walk with your dog on a leash, so that you can control her head.

Common in this breed, and a lot of dogs love a good cat poo. One thing you can do is teach her a "drop it" or "leave it" command when you are obedience training her, teach her to drop a toy on command. Once she learns to drop the toy, you can give the command to drop a cat turd too. You should keep her on Heartgard-plus or Interceptor for her heartworm medication to help with the parasites, and regular (twice yearly or more) fecal exams because she's at high risk for getting parasites. If it's your own personal cat leaving the feces, you can put a baby gate in the doorway to where the cat box is, cat can get in but yorkie can't. Or you can get food additives that make the poop taste "bad" (don't know how it would taste good....) or you can use Ac'cent from the grocery store, you find it by the spices. Ac'cent is MSG so not all animals will tolerate it. You feed it to the animal producing the stool, not the one eating it.

LOL ! Move that litter box to an area where the puppy can't get to it, like on top of the wash machine or somewhere like that. I have found that dogs think of them as Kitty Kookies, a treat. So just keep the litter box out of his reach but somewhere that the cat can get to it.

There is a powder you can sprinkle on a pet's food to make the poo taste worse than usual. Check your local Petsmart.

I think it's just one of those things dogs do. Our puppy used to do it too. You just have to catch them in the act, and let them know that its bad, and eventually they should stop doing it. You really need to watch it though because if he does eat it, it could give her worms.
