Blocking phone numbers temporarily?

Does anyone know of a device that will temporararily block a phone number during a period of time?

See the problem is I have a part time job and sometimes i have to work really early like 4am. Anyway work sometimes calls me at that time and I am sick of it waking up my whole family, even if i tell them to stop calling me they constantly get new people and the new people keep calling me.

So i cant call the phone company and tell them to block my work number because they will block it permanently. Does anyone know of a device I cant go out and buy, and I cant order it off the internet?

after the next time they call, you can dial a special code to block that number and then if you want to unblock it, you just use the code again. i can't remember exactly what it is, maybe like *87 or something. bellsouth told my mom this when she was having problems with certain people calling her. you can call the phone company and ask them what i'm talking about and they can give you a definite answer.

If there is no reason to be able to answer the phone during such times, what I do is just turn the phone off !!
Just remember to turn it back on, check your voicemail, when you are ready.
It might cost very little for the rest of your family to have a seperate phone line; why not check into that as well.
Then, you could control who calls you 100 percent.
