What types of girls is she ? Sporty or ladylike. What colour she use to dress and what is her hobbies?
If is sporty and outgoing - Gerbemres will be nice
If she is those like the girl next door - small white Iris is nice and unique.
don't send roses on the first time you might scare her but if she is your girlfriend already pink roses is good.
Never send chrysetume and carnation ok.
chrys usually for the death
and carnation usually for mother.
Actually all flower is good except for the 2 above. Depends on how is your relationship.

When in doubt, go with roses.. but if you happen to know the persons favorite flower, go with that, that will score you some major brownie points!

One long stem red rose. NEVER pink or yellow because that makes it seem like you just want to be friends. Or just find out her favorite flower.

Personally I think a dozen roses is too expensive and just too much for a first date. Keep it simple. One rose is elegant and not overdoing it.

White Roses. A little non-conventional, symbolize love and friendship. Plus white goes good with just about anything (for when she puts them in her house)
