to all you people that say this is just a stage: its not.
to all the people that ask what kinda job will hire you: im going to be a piercer or a guitar player.

lip piercings ARE NOT ugly. neither are tattoos. and when i turn 18 im getting a tattoo.

Hey..i'm not gonna sit here an preach to you or say it's tacky..you are who you are..wait till your birthday to see if you actually still want it..because sometimes,as cliche as this sounds, it's all really just a phase..i'm a grown woman and i still have phases like that and they pass..but if you do decide you really want it, let your dad know how much you want it and try to sound as mature as possible,lol..none of that "please please please" ish..explain how important it is (if it really is) to you and hopefully you can sway him..make sure you research it and let him know that it's safe,if you go to the right places, and you're just trying to be you..and let him know in the future,if you don't like it, you can always just take it out..good luck

u r only 15 r u sure that u really want ur lip pierced? i am 24 years old and i got my nose pierced about 2 years ago and my mom still had a big say in it. u have to look at the future. is ur school going to allow u to wear it? most schools wont allow piercings. do u have a job? is ur job going to allow u to wear it while u work. if u dont work r u planning on getting a job? do u really think that places r going to hire u with a lip piercing? most wont. why dont u just wait till u r legal age. which is only 2 years away. by that time u will most likely grow out of the lip piercing stage. i am all about expressing urself. but u need to think of the future and not just the right now i want. good luck though.

Explain to him the reason you want this done. Also explain to him it is becoming a very accepted piercing.. but concider the future. Think about if you really want this. Meditate on it for a while and look some stuff up about it. Show your dad what you look up. If he says no then you only have 2 more years until you can get it done legally.

I had the same problem but it was for a eyebrow piercing. I was 13 or 14 when I asked. Of course, no was the anwser. But what I did was got very excellent grades and etc and then I got my eyebrow pierced. You have to show your dad you're responible and have to earn it for a piercing.

I'm sure if I posed the question to you, "Would you want your father to respect you, and your feelings?" I'm quite sure that your answer would be "Yes." Because you, as a person, want respect.

Your father is the adult in your family. And until you're of adult age, he is the one who sets the rules in the household. You may not like all of his rules, but yet, they are his rules. And respect works two ways. You should also respect and obey your father because it is the right thing to do.

When you are of legal age, then you're welcome to do as you see fit and call your own shots, and you will be the one to take responsibility for your actions. Your father will no longer be responsible for you. But for now, he is. And while he is, you need to show him that measure of respect that is due him.

I do not see why a mere lip piercing should cause division between you and your father. It's not worth it. Whenever you have a problem you can't handle, or need the necessities of life, it's your father who will be there for you, thick or thin. Not your friends, or anyone else. He knows what is best, they do not.

My suggestion to you is to obey your father, do what is right, and when you are of legal age to call your own shots, then you can do whatever you please.

Are you sure that's what you want to do? If you do just have a serious talk with your Dad from your heart. Let him know how you feel. Good luck to you.
