each law enforcement officer chooses their own? I'm assuming you're asking about democrat, republican, lib?? why does it matter?

They are free to choose their party. My guess is that they are the party of their family. That is usually how it works. Most people never switch parties. It takes generations.

They are there to enforce the law, and deal with criminals,
they are not affiliated politically even though elected.
