I am putting all over blonde highlights in my hair on monday and am worried about the outgrowth. My hair grows really fast and i wanna save money. Is there any way that i could use a box haircolor on my hair after i get it professionally highlighted to cover the roots so i dont have to go get it touched up every month? What should I do to save money?

Get Foils!
They don't affect the roots at all.
Get a whole head foil so the roots don't need to be touched up

You could but i definitely don't recommend it. There is always the possibility that you will get the wrong color. Then you would spend more money getting it fixed than you would have if you would have just went to the salon in the first place. I would recommend that you go back to your stylist, when you begin to notice the new growth, and ask her/him to only put a few foils on the top and sides. Usually salons will do this and just charge you per foil. I usually charge about $4-$6 per foil. That way, you don't have to pay full price everytime and you still look great!
P.S. Please don't use that Sun In!! It can cause weird chemical reactions with your future haircolors!!

For a couple of years I've highlighted my hair by myself with Frost and Glow. It's about 11 dollars a box and I use half a box each time. It comes with a cap, so I just rince it out each time. My highlights have always looked really good and I always get comments on them. Even my hairdresser was impressed. When your roots start to grow out, just redo it all. I pull the hair through the cap and try to put the dye on the roots first, then I brush it through towards the end. My roots always look good. Hope this helps!!

.... If your hair is really dark brown don't get such a Heavy highlight.....keep most of the lightness around you face... then you can just get the touch up about every 12 weeks ...and because it's not a full highlight...it shouldn't cost as much....or go to a beauty school and have it done ...almost 1/2 the price..

woman, you probably did not get what you requested for thus that you ought to definately bypass decrease back and get you money's nicely worth. Did you ask for an finished set of highlights or 1/2 set? in case you requested for finished set and the bottom did not grab the shade...it is in all likelihood because your hairstylist did not go away the shade in lengthy adequate or I guess she/he began on the proper, huh? that would also be yet an extra reason. bypass decrease back and talk to the owner! Get you money's nicely worth!

no if you get it done professionally do not use the box stuff anymore, Because when they highlight it they have a certain patern they follow so If you did it yourself and went back to the salon they would not be able to find the pattern they made before, So Just stick with the professionals.

Cheat... I mix that Sun In stuff with water and some leave-in conditioner and comb it through my hair with a fine comb before I blow dry. You don't have a skunk stripe then. It isn't such a dramatic change to the color... just sun kissed. You have to condition very well and often.
