Hardly. Lying is saying something you know (or believe) to be false with the intent of deceiving. A joke, just like a fictional story, has no such intent--and your audience knows that the intent is to entertain, or say something in metaphorical terms, etc.
About the only time a joke is wrong is if it is spoken withthe intent to hurt someone's feelings--or belittle them--or if a situation arises where a joke, etc. is mustakenly believed to be true and you fail to correct the error.

I don't think so... Lying, in religion, is subject to the 8th commandment which is,"Thou shall not bear false witnesses against thy neighbor". In real life, joking is not really a sin or a lie, but it is just some way to show your funy side. However, it gets bad when you use "green jokes" or some jokes which are already hurting the feelings of others and which you think may not be appropriate to say...

*Depends on the situation and if the one the joke is directed at knows your are joking and if not whether you let them know. That is a gray area. Even if you do not joke in a way that it can be taken as a lie, jokes hurt people at times and if it hurts people just don't do it.
I am married to my second wife and she is a great person, but she does not joke, so I have respected her and I do not joke with her like I used to with my first wife. My first wife took it and dished it out, but if you respect someone you will not joke at their expense.
Just do that which is right and hram none and you will do fine.*

No, though some confuse them, and try to cover a lie by saying they were joking.
The difference is in motive. A joke is meant to amuse. A lie is meant to deceive.
A joke will reveal the truth as part of itself. A lie will maintain its deceit until found out, after which the damage begins.

It depends on what is in your heart. If you say you are joking to cover up how you really feel than, yes, it is the same thing as lying. But if you are just trying to have fun than no it would not be.

Depends. There is plenty of humor out there where the comedian didn't have to lie to make the joke.
But I guess you're talking about practical jokes and things like that? Yes, I guess it would be considered lying to say anything you know to be false.
Darn. Guess that means I have to stop pulling jokes on my husband.

Depends on to whom you are joking or lying.
If you joke with friends who are equals it is just a joke.
If you joke with elders and seniors it is improper, but is lying.
If you joke with juniors it is somewhat accepted, but there are chances that the junior may misunderstand.
It also depends on the attitude of joking or lying.

It depends on how you "joke". You might call it joking, but another might call it lying. You need to give more information, dude.
