Yes, they are told that anyone who is not saved does not have the guidance of the holy ghost and can not properly interpret scripture. It is a defense mechanism not only to those who would question their faith, but to those they want to judge as they can interpret scripture on an as needed basis, changing it to suit the circumstances. I personally have read the bible cover to cover over 2 dozen times and in hebrew and greek.....and I am constantly told that I don't know what I'm talking about. The ironic part is that most xtians haven't read the bible through in it's entirety not even once. They are content to swallow select passages thrown to them from the pulpit. Xtians other great defense is to say that you are taking things out of context. It is all pick and choose.....they have the perfect salad bar religion.

As a Christain sometimes we don't answer or are afraid to answer because then we are put on the spot to give the proof of out answer. I am very impressed that you have read the entire bible. Not very many christians can say they have even read half of the new testament. Christains have been under fire for centuries. We are sometimes gun shy or soubt our own faith. I have never tolda anyone you don't know hwat you are talking about. I agree I think for some it is a defense mechanish or a comeback trying to get the focus off of them and the hotseat they are in. We were and are not taught that mechanism. I have heard it said out of fear of not being right. We are not always right. But, the pressure is on us to be always right and know exactly what we are taling about. I myself wil spend the rest of my life learning what the scriptures mean. I try not judge others because they are questioning something that is confusing or doesn't make sense. It doesn't make sense to us most of the time either. That is why we are suppose to go to church and get ministered to-to weed throught the confusion and get answers for ourselves as well. I am sorry if someone has given you the wrong impression of what a true Christian is. We don't know everything-we know no more than you do about the word of God. Faith isn't suppose to elevate us above anyone-it's meant to set us apart to others can see we live what we beleive when we are right with the Lord and the word. I hope this helps.

It's interesting that if you're not a Christian, that people believe that you can't know anything about Christianity. They seem to think that somehow non-Christians have a 0 IQ.

Such is life. I used to be a Christian. Now that I'm a Pagan, it seems I must have had an encephalectemy.

In any case, I've read a number of different versions of the Bible. I also have at least four versions on my bookshelf, a few more in storage. I still read them, and consult them often. I also have the Koran, Tao Te Ching, and a collection of gnostic and esoteric texts, along with my Pagan collection.

I strive to not live in a vacuum, and for that, it seems, I'm brain damaged.

You could read the Bible 10 times but if you're not a True Christian with God's Holy Spirit dwelling within you for understanding, guidance and discernment, you probably DON'T know what you're talking about.

You must have supernormal powers. Myself,I can't tell a Christian from a Commie when they type in their answers. Are they using some code word I'm missing, or maybe you can tell by how many spaces are between the words. Anybody can say they're anything on here.

Do you have it memorized? and Do you know every level of teaching(7+ each)? and can you back up each pointed question with more than 1 verse in context (whether that be a 3 verse group or a whole chapter). Your points may be valid(I haven't seen seen them) and i will acknowledge that most of the Christians don't know 1/10 of what they should. but i'll look into your Q's and see what i can do.

I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses & we can prove to anyone that although we're Christian, we are totally different than hypocritical Christendom. It can take time to EXPLAIN things & it's not really best to type it out in an answer. That's why one needs to STUDY with us or attend our meetings. And (as an example to how we're different than other Christians) we NEVER ask/charge for a single cent. And you can always visit our site to get some answers to your questions.

* Very few Christian know the bible. They know their doctrine and that is it. They do not bother to study the bible. They get mad because I know it and they do not. They say things that is not even in the bible like christianity is not a religion, but a ralationship with Jesus. That is not even hinted at in the bible the bible claims christianity is a religion. James even talks about if a man thinks he is religous, but does not bridle his tongue, hie religion is in vain. James 1:26 Modern Christians act like it is a sin if they claim to be religious. *

I don't know, however I do know that the Bible is spiritually discerned, and that the carnal (unsaved) man can not understand the things of God. So that may be your problem.

Trying to explain the Bible to someone who is not saved is like trying to speak greek to someone who speaks nothing but english. It can't be done.

Maybe you asked a malicious or silly question. I don't answer questions like that. Christians will always grab the opportunity to explain their beliefs.
Have a grace filled day
