That's really asking for it. Have health insurance, life insurance? The others are right, buy the 460 barrel, the TC might stand it , you might not!

According to the reloading manuals produced by the major components manufacturers, 45 Colt loads for large-framed Ruger revolvers and T/C Contender or Encore single-shots run between 25,000 and 30,000 CUP (and some manuals won't push them beyond 21,000 to 23,000!) Marlin and Winchester lever-action rifles, with their sealed breach and stronger lockup can handle loads running right up to 33,000 CUP for these guns. Rossi and Legacy Puma lever-action rifles based on the Browning 1892 action can easily stand 50,000 CUP or 65,000 PSI.
However, pistols are pistols and rifles are rifles. While much tougher than a Colt SAA, New Service, Anaconda, or Smith and Wesson 25-5, a Thompson/Center single-shot isn't appreciably stronger than a Ruger or Freedom Arms revolver. Neither of these is as strong as a Winchester or Marlin levergun, and none of these can hold a candle to the Legacy Puma or Rossi 92.
The pressure generated by the .460 S&W is easily DOUBLE the maximum safe load for a Ruger or T/C Contender or Encore! That's well above what one would expect for even the hottest proof load! While the extra-long chamber of the T/C Encore will permit you to chamber a .460 S&W . . . attempt to fire it, and you will very likely destroy your gun and cause yourself potentially serious injuries. I cannot emphasize this enough: DO NOT TRY THIS!
Besides, there's an awful lot you can do with a T/C Encore in .45 Colt. According to the Hodgdon and Hornady loading manuals, 24.6 grains of Hodgdon H4227 fast rifle powder generates 30,300 CUP pressure and propels a 250 grain JHP at around 1350 FPS out of a 10" Contender. (The 15" Encore won't drive the bullet any faster, due to that extra long chamber which is designed to take 3" shotgun shells as well as 1.6" .45 Colt cartridges.) You can even throw a 360 grain cast-lead monster at a bit over 1150 FPS. With shots at close ranges, this is plenty for all but the largest North American game.

Use only ammo that is info stamped on the barrel.Safety is more important than a science experiment gone awry.
