To put their scent on you and mark you as theirs because they think they own you.

It's all good though.

Because the cat would not do that if it didn't like you.

Its how cats express affection and also have glands you can't see and are marking the person they rub against(can't see or smell the gland secretion)as theirs-ownership. Its how cats communicate. Since cats, animals do not have the same vocal cord structure as people aare unable to speak as we do BUT animals use their bodies-body language among other ways to "talk". Even the way a cat holds it tail is language-all the way up is carefree-dropped halfway is caution -on the alert and drooping is sad.Your cat talks all the time you just have to learn it,your cat's language.go to www.purina.com website that tells what it all means and how you can understand your cat.

Cat's have scent glands all over their bodies (but a stronger concentration of them around the jawline) when a cat rubs up against you s/he is "marking you" as "theirs" the scent is something that you or I can't pick up, but other cats can. They have to keep rubbing because we change clothes so they have to rescent you every time they see you.

It not only "wards off" other cats...but in their mind it tells you that they accept you as part of their "family"

alot of cats will do this to distribute their natural oils all over their body- humans legs are the natural grooming post for a cat. Other than that- some are just loving on you.

Because they always want to claim you as their family. They continuously do this because they love you so much and they must put their scent on you (to mark their property) It one way they show affection (because they love you.) They are like little tigers...enjoy.
