My cat "Delicious" is about 8 months , has vet visits regularly, eats and plays normally. But about a month ago i noticed her lip being a bright pink color. Thinking nothing of it but noticing how strange is that for a cat to have such a bright pink bottom lip. So a couple of days ago. Me and my husband took pictures of her and noticed how obvious her lip was....and today i looks like its swollen. Im not panicing because i actually think its quite funny how a cat could end up that way! But if it is serious i would do the next best thing for her and make sure she is better! Please could someone tell me what could be the matter and is this normal for her growth?
Thanx
P.S. SHE IS NOT SICK AND HAS BEEN TESTED FOR ALL DISEASES!

Hello! this of course may not be your cat's problem, so if it doesn't go away maybe he needs to see the vet, but my cat had the same problem and it was because he was allergic to his food bowl that was made of plastic. now he uses human bowls for his food (he's spoiled) and it went away. good luck!

I went to your link and cat's lip is NOT normal-have had cats and other animals-dogs,rabbits,ferret,guinea pig etc. You need to take the cat to a Veterinarian for could be a number of things from being bitten by a insect to a tooth/gum problem, to a cyst and a tumor but only a Vet would have the knowledge to determine. It is important that you take the cat to a VET because if its not something minor then the sooner its determined what it is and treatment is given by the correct medication(also can only be determined by VET) the better chances are for the cat getting better.a catsip do not swell just because its growing older and the color does not change either. Swelling is usually due ot either Injury, infection, or a cyst or tumor. Could also be a foreign object too small to be easily seen that could have gotten stuck into the lip esp if the cat goes outside like a very small thorn which would cause a infection and cause the lip to swell. Anyway good luck-hope its something minor that is easily treated and your cats lip goes back to normal.Looking at the coloring of your cat and looks like a tabby her normal lip color would be a dark color and not pink(hopefully someone did NOT put lipstick or some other color on her for that would go into the skin and harm her and could cause serious harm for the ingrdients could be toxic to cats esp if magic marker-the ink is toxic).Do not know if you have children but little girls????often play dressup with their pets.

It isn't a disease, but maybe a grass seed or insect bite. See if you can find a spot where it could have entered, but take her to the vet. If it is a seed (even if she is an indoor cat she can have a grass seed, brought in on someones clothing) it can work its way in and will cause quite a bit of pain and damage. And to get it out can be a massive operation.
Please don't wait until her lip becomes so huge (with the two of you laughing at her discomfort) that she can no longer eat. At the moment, if you are feeding her wet food, she is probably eating enough.
Being bright pink means a foreign object/infection - and you should have taken her for one of the "regular" vet checks and stop laughing at her.

it could either be a cut, foreign body, or an allergic reaction - most likely the last. probably to something she's rubbing against with her mouth (food bowl, etc). if she's eating, drinking, urinating, and defecating okay and acting like her normal self, don't be TOO worried about it. the fact that it IS increasing in size, however, is a matter of concern. is it painful to the touch? you should take her in anyway - it's very unlikely to be neoplasia since she's that young, so that could be a weight off your shoulders. there is something that cats have - it's called "feline eosinophilic granuloma" or "rodent ulcer", which is part of the eosinophilic granuloma complex in cats. rodent ulcers are usually found on the upper lip, however, but it can spread with licking, so i wouldn't rule it out of my differentials list. take her in - that's what i would do. most likely the vet will take a biopsy and send it into the lab to get a cytology reading on it. good luck!

you have a very beautiful cat! =)! YM suggestion would be that you take her to the vet and see whats going on. I don't think she has any disease so I wouldn't be worried about that. She may have poked her self and that may have caused her bottom lip to have an opening and may be infected. Just take her to the vet.

=)

She probably has an abscess;she may have a splinter or something in there.
