roll them up as tight as you can! for pants, fold them in half lengthwise and then roll, with shirts fold in half lengthwise, fold sleeves over, and roll up, etc. you can pack more in that way and they won't wrinkle so much

I have a friend who swears by the "wrap in a tight ball" method. Whatever your thinking on this, you might not want to apply it to items like silk and linen which wrinkle far too easily.
I've found that I can get these garments to my destination with minimal creasing if I pack them flat between a couple of sheets of tissue paper. You can get a package of white tissue (500 sheets = 15-20 trips) for a few dollars.
When you get to your destination unpack immediately -- saving the tissue paper for your return trip. Hang anything that needs a touch up in the hotel bathroom and run the shower on hot for 10-20 minutes. The resulting steam works miracles on wrinkles. Make sure you don't leave your clothes hanging in the steam TOO long, they'll end up wet!
Unlike the previous responder, I would advise you to be sure that everything fits quite snugly in the suitcase -- especially if you go the "tissue" route. Too much room allows for space in which fabric can move and allows wrinkles to form. (The tissue paper prevents much of this movement, as well as preventing items snagging on sequins, etc.) I'm not suggesting an overpacked, bulging case, just a nice, tight fit.

Fold them as little as neccesary, and as much as possible lay them flat in your suitcase. Also try to pack clothes that don't wrinkle easy. Avoid rolling them b/c it's like, unavoidable to get gathers in them when you roll them. This makes them wrinkle worse. Trust me, I rolled my clothes before going to Houston TX from NC, and they needed ironing when I arrived. I would fold the clothes before rolling them.

pack as close to leaving as you can. try to fold like they do in retail stores, it creases the fabric less. you might want to try getting a bigger bag. more space = less stuffing. lastly, take the clothes out of the bag as soon as you can and hang them up. but it never hurts to find an iron
