Go on a date. At the end say "I've had a wonderful evening, but this wasn't it. Ta!"

There is no best way. There is no good way to break up with someone, anyone who says otherwise is full of decroded crap. The person getting dumped is always going to be p_ssed off or heartbroken, or at least a little bit slighted unless they really wanted to end the relationship and were merely tricking the other person into doing the dumping. Ive done that from time to time, although honesty is just the best policy that everyone should strive for. 9 times out of 10 I have found when I have broken up with someone or been dumped myself the real reason is because I or they simply want to do someone else! Just be honest about it and admit it, people are going to know about it anyway so why cover whorishness up.

Best way is to be honest but not necessarily brutal about it.

Let the person know that your feelings either changed, or that you do not see the relationship going anywhere. If you still would like to be friends with the person let them know it but most don't seem to do this.

If you want this person completely out of your life, then let them know that while things may have been right you are different from who you were when you first meet.

People do grow apart or outgrow each other. whether in friendship or romance.

Being honest yet kind is the best thing to do. Just don't do it on Valentine's day, or their birthday or at some other special occassion that is supposed to be a nice one.

There is no best way...there is no good way. The whole breaking up thing SUCKS! But if you are going to end a relationship, stick to your guns and just do it. Don't say "But let's still be friends." Don't say "We can still date." because that is mostly nonsense. Just doesn't happen in most cases. A clean break is usually best for both sides in the long run.

Good Luck.

well... you don't say anything. start doing stuff that will leave your partner upset and dissilluttoned and they'll leave YOU !!
it works start calling less, go out with others and leave them hanging, make excuses why you can't see them, be cold. aloof,
tell them you're going through " some stuff " don't answer messages or e-mails, go on and on how you keep getting compliments from the opposite sex ( or same sex) make up reasons to be busy... infact too busy to spend time with them, if you have a sexual relationship then be flat and cold only do quickies or even better say you are always tired and not in the mood and so on. before you know it they'll be breaking up with you and saving you the sooooo uncomfortable situation of having to drop them or say anything.............. put up with tears the pleading and the nagging and before you know it you'll be single again. from my experience it's the best way. try it and see and most of all stay strong and be firm and good luck my friend.

make sure to do it in person and be straight-forward... you don't want them to question whether or not you are Really breaking up with them. you need to GIVE THEM THE REASONS why you are breaking up with them. trust me, they need it for reassurance and closure. focus on the good times you had together and all you learned from them too.. you want to leave it on a "more good" note at least..

Here is what I say......"I don't like the direction our relationship is taking" "I care deeply about you, but I also want some time to my self." I want to break from this for now.....I hope you understand and if you don't.....then you don't understand me. I just want to stop right now and I hope you understand.

You could use Greg Brady's famous, "Something suddenly came up!" or some derivation thereof. Just kidding.

Honesty, no patronizing "it's not you, it's me" lines, and in person. Simple and to the point.

THE BEST THING TO DO IS BE HONEST DONT TRY TO GIVE LAME EXCUSES LET THEM KNOW HOW YOU REALY FEEL DONT PUT IT OFF EITHER THE LONGER YOU PUT IT OFF THE MORE ATACHED THE OTHER PERSON WILL BECOME AND MOST IMPORTANTLY TRY TO SHOW A LITTLE UNDERSTANDING AND LISTEN TO WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY TOO TRY TO END IT ON FRIENDLY TERMS
