I really dig this airplane. I don't want to debate whether its safe, etc. I was just wondering when the marines plan to start using them, particularly in Iraq, etc. I am curious to see how they perfom in a combat situation, in the sand, etc.

Don't know. I see the Osprey flying around Virginia all the time. I'll look into it, see what I can dig up.

Here you go, don't hold your breath though.......

It's hard to say anything about the MV-22. Every time a military plane crashes it's either it was shot down or pilot error. It took around 6 F-16 crashes that were blamed on pilot error to finally blame it on a mechanical problem (which was the fly-by-wire wire would rub against a bolt and finally snap). If it really is pilot error, it may never go into mass production.

it'll be deployed right after they get the bugs out. unfortunately it's been sitting on top of a fire ant mound and they keep getting into the machine and gumming up the works.
