I don't think she has a boyfriend.

This is an extremely bad move. Having spent 30 years in a business setting for a large company, part of it in management, I can tell you that office romances are often doomed from the beginning and made worse by the fact that co-workers who are no longer in a romantic relationship still have to work in close proximity with one another--which can be a nightmare for them and even their co-workers. Also, putting the moves on your boss can result in disciplinary action against you for possible sexual harassment--if not purely bad politically incorrect behavior--or even against your boss who, if she took you up on your offer, could no longer manage you impartially along with other members of your department. Give up this idea as one of the most misguided you've had in a long time.

Do you like your job? Your already doubting that you could be sacked! Only ask her out if you genuinely really like her and interested in her, because if its just a chase and play, then your life could turn from play, to pay in hell! Good luck.

You are going to have to decide what you value the most, your job, or a date with your boss?

Even if you manage to have both, you stand a high chance of losing your job because of this either sooner, or later.

Invite her to your birthday party. If she comes you can take chances. But be straight forward. Like "Madam would you mind if I buy you a cup of coffee after office hours ?"

Invite her to a business luncheon, and after you're done with whatever business you might have, bring up some more personal questions.

She may not have a boyfriend but she may not be looking for one either .

If she's interested in you, allow her to make her move....

That would be a very bad move unless you do not value your job.

Only if you have another job lined up.
