Actually, some dogs do lift weights!

Bully breeds are well-known for being strong dogs. Boxers, bull-terriers, rottweilers and such have a remarkable muscle development that have come from centuries of selective breeding. To make use of these strengths there is an offical dog sport known as weight pulling.

Weight pulling has a long history, but modern times have seen this evolved into a sport where dogs compete to pull the heaviest load for about sixteen feet. These dogs can pull weights averaging about 3,000 pounds!

Of course, when you combine a breed known for it's strength and a sport that involves using that strength - you are going to get some very strong looking dogs.

One word of advice, if you want to get your dog involved in this sport - see a professional or contact an offical organization. A dog can be seriously hurt in this if not given the right gear. And sometimes, they just won't do it - and it's a poor idea to force a dog to pull weights.

I wish I could see men on the Internet looking really strong like they lift weights! How can I find one? I've had boyfriends looking on the Internet but they're usually looking at porn...and they're never very good looking, guess that's why they look at porn instead of looking for a relationship with a really nice woman. Just kiddin' with ya...I couldn't resist. It's just the way you phrased your question.

Good diet and plenty of exercise is the key! I use to have a really buff chihuahua named Macho! True story! Don't let him become a couch potato. Besides, dogs love your company outdoors!! It will be good for you as well!

Most of the time it is the breed and bloodline of the dog. You can make sure that they get enough excercise. Also there are certain kinds of dog food that help build a dog up like that. One of them is called Bil Jak. Most stores don't carry it because its pretty expensive but it should help alot.

Take them on a lot of walks, and take them swimming. Also as one other poster mentioned, agility training is a great way to get them to be fit and light on their paws. Search the listings in your area, your local vet clinic will probably know of some nearby dog training facilities. Have fun and happy working out!

If it's a big dog ( I have two malamutes) walks don't cut it. I have mine pull me around on a skateboard, in the winter, pull my daughter around on a sled, pull me on a sled, or I just take them out and let them run for an hour once a week. Good diet...of course I am walking distance from BLM land.

Sometimes if I am lazy, I will take them to a dirt road (not asphalt) and let them out of my truck, then drive away from them and let them run after me for a while. (this keeps them from getting into trouble by wandering around too much.) I call this 'roading the dogs'

Well obvious dogs do not lift weights but to get dogs esp the medium and the large breeds(any dog really) to look their physial best they need to get the best nutrition. Check your dog food to make sure Byproduct does not appear under the Contents. Usually says chicken byproducts, beef byproducts and so forth-if it says it do not feed to your dog for byproducts are the JUNK Parts of a animal like feet, beeks, snouts etc that are ground up into powder and added to the food-No Meat-which the dog needs. The best foods for the dog(or any animal) are NOT found in Grocery Stores-all have byproducts but at Petfood stores where all the foods EXCEPT SCIENCE DIET do not have byproducts. Authority is a excellent dog food can buy at PETSMART also give him BREWERTS YEAST TABLETS with added Garlic and linoleic acid 3 and so on-gives healthy skin and coat. Give Frontline-protects against fleas, ticks and Interceptor-protects against heartworms. Is now a very handsome healthy dog. Also brush him so hair/skin is always healthy looking. Exercise is also important-if no plce to run take for a DAILY WAlk-can Jog with your dog-keeps his muscles sleek and toned. Dogs, all animals just like people -you are what you eat. Although its tempting to give our pets food from the table etc it is not good for them. Good Quality dog food like Authority has the right amount of protein, vitamins etc formulated for your dog's needs to have him be his best. People food gives dogs, animals just like it does people high cholesterol, fat deposits and so on. Any Dog food from a pet store is ok just make sure no byproducts. another good brand is NUTRO or IAMS. Costs a bit more than the food at grocery stores but your dog will look great,be very healthy and live longer.Of course LOVE is also most important. My dog,Blondie now knows he is loved and no one will ever hurt him-when he came looked sad,was scared of everything But Now always looks happy-looks as if he is always smiling.

it depends on the breed, typically the hunting and working group are bred to do various jobs that make them look muscular, and especially short haired so you can see their muscles. I dont think my chihuahua will ever look like he lifts weights, although my french bulldog looks like she lives in the gym, and she is actually kinda lazy.

It mostly depends on what kind of dog that you have some dogs have muscular frames like boxers-dobermans-Rottweiler-and others don't and lots of exercise helps too!
