I have gone through a lot of thought on this over the last 18 months and I think (but don't know) that there probably is a God. I am hinging this on the following two things
1. The force of the Big Bang had to land on a razor's edge in terms of force for a life-sustaining universe to be the result. To strong and everything flies apart, to weak and the universe dies off too soon for any thing beyond hydrogen and helium to develop.
2. Either a propensity for abiogenesis had to be present in the building blocks of matter (at the sub-atomic level) or something had to create the first spark of life by hand.
I can accept one of these as being pure chance but not two. So I lean (about 55/45) toward there being a God.
And I am afraid that is about as definitive as it gets if you are looking for hard evidence.
EDIT: I see that somebody further down has interpretted this as an argument against evolution. I want to point out that it is not. Evolution has been demonstrated and is pretty much irrefutable at that point. What remains is the question of abiogenesis

There is no evidence. I don't believe that God exists. If there was a "god" he had to have evolved through the same natural process as us, only changing the question from "Where did we come from" to "Where did he come from". Occam's Razor says do not multiply entities beyond necessity (basically: pick the simplest answer). If God can "just exist", why can't we "just exist" and skip the whole God thing.
Also, if there is a God (although I firmly believe that there is not), he is nothing like people try and say he is. Would an all loving God create a world full of flawed people, and then send the vast majority of these people to Hell for an eternity of damnation and torture because he screwed up in creating us? If you don't believe in him and live your life in a certain way, you burn in Hell. That sounds more like a tyrannical dictator like Saddam or Castro than a loving God.

Let me get this straight. You're saying that people are ignorant if they believe in God but you want those same people to give you a real, concerte answer to His existence. Hmm....
No one, and I do mean no one, can give you a scientific answer or tangible evidence of His existence. No one can give you a scientfic answer or tangible evidence of no God either. It can't be proved either way, that's why it's such a battle and people argue over it constantly.
Faith isn't about evidence, that's why it's called faith. If you're on a quest for tangible evidence of God, hate to tell ya thing but, it's going to be a long and probably fruitless quest. You're better off looking for Bigfoot. At least there are the Bigfoot footprints & that shaky footage of him to go on. There's no such footage of God. Sorry.

Same way as you thought, when I was younger I use to believe, but I could not let go of my belief because I needed God atleast when I was in trouble or (for eg) when I needed a Job, I pray, sinckness, I pray, depressed, I pray. Not knees on floor prayer, but all from heart prayer. And Got the answers though not as early as I want to, but on time.
Recently, I received Holy Spirit annointing from God, (which I dint know God still pours on us, just like Jesus said before 2000 years that He would send). God's presence is so strong and so powerful, I cannot deny that He does not exist anymore.
I will give you this simple reason, whenever you would like to do something wrong, why do you feel you should not do it. It is satan who tempts us to do the wrong and it is God's spirit who tells us it is wrong and to do what is right.
To be filled with His Holy Spirit, you need to tell God you are sorry for all the wrongs and tell Him to guide you.
Pray that small prayer that you want to, you'l find that God exists. That peace that God'l give you will be the best in your life ever...

Obviously there's no evidence - religions evolved enough so that they don't make any concrete claims that can be refuted ("the gods live atop mt. olympus, etc")
Specific beliefs (the story of genesis, for example) can and have been refuted.
Other than that - the burden of proof is on the believer - see Russel's Teapot. Anybody can make any number of ridiculous claims (The FSM, invisible pink unicorn, etc) - most people, instead of realizing it, spend their whole lives believing what their parents taught them.
I'm glad you know better.
I was raised by atheist/agnostic parents, so I'll never be sure I would have realized it myself, though of course I'd like to think so.

I can give you an infallible answer, but you, by your cynical nature will not accept what I say as truth because you have decided that my idea of infalible is not yours as well. You won't believe because you don't want to. But what I would like to know is why? Are you scared to jump from the logic of the senses into the realm of faith? I have never seen Austrailia, but I believe it is there.

You would enjoy reading Richard Dawkins's latest book The God Delusion, he covers your question very well.
It is, in fact, impossible to prove that gods exist or don't exist just as it is impossible to prove that the invisible pink unicorn that lives under my mulberry tree exists or doesn't exist. That being said there is more logic and argument in favour of the non-existence of gods than there is for the existence of them.

There's as much faith in not believing in God as there is in believing. Think to the beginning of the beginning. God is definately a plausable theory. Easier to believe that there is an omniscient, omnipotent being who is in charge than there were these two specks of dust/atoms which collided. At least for me.

I agree with Mullah. the energy had to have been created from somewhere in order for the big bang to occur. who created that first atom? did it create itself, how can nothing turn into something. if the big bang did occur shouldn't it occur again and create another planet with living beings on it?
If evolution was true when are we humans going to evolve into 3 headed beings.

Ants are physically incapable of human knowledge. So who's to say that humans are capable. of knowing everything? Also it's much easier to believe in God, but it's also much easier to believe the world is flat if you don't have proof.
