WIC and welfare are two entirely different things.
WIC = Women, Infants and children gives you voucher checks to get milk, eggs, cheese, cereal etc.... depends on income if qualifies. Even people with decent jobs qualify.
Welfare also depends on income, if you are below a certain level, you recieve cash, food stamp and medical benefits.
A lot of people who are on welfare also get wic.
You could check your counties website to see what the qualifications are for welfare, because once the baby is born, your boyfriends income will count against any benefits you recieve,

First off depending on what state you live in Welfare is no longer what it was years ago. In Michigan if you are not working or have left a job you have to do this thing called workforce which is where you go and sit and listen to different job hunting skills and then you are expected to be there from 9-5 Monday through Friday and you have to take what ever job comes along an no matter what the pay or you can't get assistance. There are a few things that make it so you don't have to work and not have to do the workforce thing, 1. You are the mother of a child under 3 months, you are completeing high school or the GED, you are caring for a disabled child and a few other minor things. I know some companies offer maternity type leave for dads as well as the moms, but mostly it is unpaid unless your company offers paid leave.
Now for Wic this is an income quailifying program. You have to meet certain criteria for income to get wic. It goes by the amount of people in your household to income. Wic covers things like if you nurse then you don't get formula but the mother receives milk, eggs, cheese, cereal, juice, carrots and tuna fish, peanut butter and dry peas or beans(this is what you get in Michigan for nursing, each state is different), this type of package continues until the baby is weaned it will also once the baby turns 6 months they will receive baby juice and baby cereal, now if you don't nurse than the baby gets 8 cans of powdered formula till they are I think 6 months then they receive the baby juice and cereal as well. The package then changes once they turn a year old and then they get regular milk, cheese, eggs, juice, dry peas or beans and cereal. They don't do peanutbutter under the age of three anymore because of the allergies.
I would definately apply for wic it is a wonderful program and the income limits are quite high and you can still get it.
I hope this helps if you have any questions feel free to email me.

WIC gives coupons for milk, cheese, cereal up to the age of 5 I think. Welfare gives out foodstamps also, but they are different, they give you a card you use at the grocery store for food items only, its not much but it may help. Welfare also sometimes helps with diapers and such. Mostly WIC gives coupons for formula (if not breast feeding), or food for her if she is breast feeding as far as that goes. I would get on both. The state is willing to help, why not use it? You have a job, there is no harm in using it because its your tax dollars that go towards the WIC and Welfare. Best of luck!! Hope he/she is beautiful.

WIC is actually just a program that helps you provide food for yourself and your child or children. Getting on WIC is beneficial if you have a defiency in providing milk (breastmilk) for your child or as a supplement to breastfeeding for the infant. You can get on WIC now if you are pregnant to help provide nutritional food supplements to your growing embryo. They provide milk, cheese, cereals, eggs for you to eat. They also take an interest in making sure you know how to breast feed, encouraging breastfed children, making sure you take your child in for thier shots, they have a network where you can call someone if you have questions on breast feeding, videos that you can watch in regards to taking care of a child, help direct you to getting on welfare if need be.
You can be on welfare and wic at the same time. The welfare part I don't really know about, but I hope this helps some. You have to be qualified to do so though, its an income based program. Good luck

Welfare is a government assistance program that offers assistance for groceries, cash, daycare, and etc. Some states even have help with rent and utilities. The WIC program is also state program to help provide certain foods for children under 5 and pregnant women or breastfeeding moms. Its ranges from formulas, cereals, cheese, and milks. There more than that those are just examples. You have to qualify for the programs.

You could be on both. WIC has much higher income limits (my husband works overtime and we still qualify, but I have 3 kids too). Most women qualify for WIC, so it's for lower-middle income people. Welfare is for the desperately poor. You might want to apply for disability while you're off of work and get WIC.

WIC is completely separate from welfare, you can be on both depending on if you meet the requirements for them. WIC is just checks with specific foods on it you take to the grocery store. I don't know a lot about welfare, though I will honestly say I decided long ago that if it comes to me having to be away from my child full tmie, I will go on welfare in a heartbeat. Those early years are TOO important for mom to be away from child. Call your local SRS (Social and Rehabilitation Services) office, they will give you an application and assign you a caseworker who will tell you what you are eligible for. SRS handles food stamps, cash assistance, even some rent and bill paying assistance.

go on welfare until you are ready to return to work, that is what it is there for....as long as you don't get stuck in that rut and stay on welfare. that is the problem with welfare that creates the stereotype. wic can help and i would get on both if i were you. you can get on wic now and it will last until your child is five, and if you nurse you will get a free breast pump and more assistance. wic is more like an assistance to help you with food, not money. so i say go for both, just be careful not to get too dependant.

I dont think you would qualify for welfare if you currently hold a job....you will get a small amount of disabilty pay for 6 weeks after the baby is born...you may qualify or other programs like WIC and Day Care stipends....maybe Food Stamps ....but I dont think its that easy to get on welfare ...definately apply for WIC though....its not MUCH help...but its easy to get

I do belive, though I am not sure, that you can receive both. WIC gives different food packages depending on the state I believe. Why don't you give them a call I am sure they have some advice on whether you should be on both, or on which.
The WIC package is here:
