Well, lets see. Everyone's body biochemistry is different - so our bodies might react somewhat differently to antidepressants.
I don't recommend them, personally. They fogged up my thoughts, caused insomnia, increased my blood pressure, made me unnecessarily anxious, increased thoughts of suicide and gave me sudden outbursts of anger.
I felt like a sedated walking - happy - zombie, therefore, I was less depressed - for the most part. It just didn't feel natural. I'm glad I'm off it now (lexapro and paxil). Remember - it might work for you without all the side effects.
If there's a way you think you can deal with the depression without pills, go for it. It will probably be more permanent and make you a stronger person in the long run. Find online boards about side effects - set up by people who take these drugs. You'll be more informed. Good luck.

I have been on many psych meds, including quite a few antidepressants in my quest to find the right combination of meds for me (Effexor, Zoloft, Celexa, Lexapro, Serzone & Wellbutrin -not all at the same time!) Serzone did nothing for me, but all of the rest of them did help with the symptoms of my depression. Sometimes drastically so. I need to be on a certain combination of medication to control my bipolar disorder...without them, my whole world is chaos and misery. I have a tendency towards really intense episodes of major depression and when it gets bad, I am pretty much non-functional. On the right meds, I am able to maintain some stability in my life and remain somewhat functional. Of all my symptoms, depression is by far the worst. Without medication, I would not be able to make other improvements in my life...like eating right, sleeping right, exercising, being in therapy, etc. It just is not possible when the symptoms are bad.
None of the medications completely get rid of my symptoms...they are not a cure. They reduce the frequency, intensity and duration of them.

yes, i am currently taking prozac. i have also been on lexapro and that worked well but the prozac helps with my eating disorder. you need to talk to your doc to find which one will work best. with anti depressants there is trial and error sometimes to fine the right med or dose. when i first was put on prozac two years ago, the doctor i saw had me up to 80mg in a month's time. that along with various other meds really messed me up. i had very severe panic attacks and two suicide attempts. i was unable to work and ended up being hospitalized. you always hear horror stories about stuff like this associated with anti depressants, and yes i did live through hell for a while, but now i have a doctor that i trust and i have say in what meds or changes occur. now i have my life back and i do believe that the prozac plays a major role in my current mood. it's not for everyone and i dont believe that there is a pill to cure everything but i know that it has helped me very much.

When i first got depression i was 15 and i was taking paxil. It really helped me it made me happy but my mom stopped it because it was making me too hyper. When i was older i tried taking it again but the side effects were soo bad that i had to stop it. It was really strange how it gave me no side effects when i first started taking it but then when i took it like 5 years later it gave me really bad ones. I have also tried a lot of others but nothing else worked. My psychiatrist told me that there are so many out there and not to give up hope. When it comes to taking drugs everyone is different. What works for me might not work for you and vice versa. If you are depressed and need medication go and see a doctor.

Every medication has side effects...it is up to you. A pastor, who comes in the ED often, once asked me this question: Did you ever see somebody on medication and heal (he was speaking about anti depression/ anti anxiety and bipolar medications. This boggled my mind....I could not find a person....
My husband was on Zoloft for a while. He had so any side effects that he quite. Now he often takes 5 HTP. No side effects and after 6 months your body does not need it constantly anymore...
Depression is a phase when it is when you see part s of yourself, the world you do not like. You can not accept these realizations. Medications keep you quiet and subdued. Do not forget that the next step is anger and needs to get out before the next step of anticipation, acceptation and going on with your live. Medication might be a bridge for a while but not for ever...
To get to the origin of your depression or anxiety you can use tools. Tool like EFT (emotional freedom technique) and EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing).
Enjoy your self, take a hike..look up to the sky, no worries.

right here in is the concern nicely definitely it is your concern; you have listened to defective instructors and preachers. once you're a Christian then you grew to alter into one by the convicting potential of the Holy Spirit which you needed to ask for the forgiveness of your sins. those sins which you probably did interior the physique in insurrection against God. however the precise of that checklist grew to become into not asking for the Salvation of your soul. Now in case you probably did repent of your sins and ask for the forgiveness of your sins then by faith in Christ's death burial and resurrection you have been cleansed of your sins! God gave you new raiment! consequently at Easter new outfits grew to become right into a prepare representing what Easter meant an substitute of your filthy rags of unrighteousness with the righteous outfits of Christ's vesture upon you. Then having been born of God you decide on a 2d better artwork that's called the baptism with the Holy Spirit, and the crucifying of the sinful nature interior of you so as which you will positioned to death the works of the devil for that's what Christ got here to do - to break the devil's artwork in anybody that calls upon the call of the LORD.

Yes i have. I take Welbutrin and Effector. They make me feel normal. I still feel low sometimes but that is normal.Sometimes one has to try several to find the right one. Only your Doctor working with you can bring you to the place you need to be.
Good luck
