They have nothing to do with cooking.

An ancient Chinese emperor had terra cotta life-sized figures of this army and their horses made and buried with him. Those figures are the Terra Cotta Warriors.

I recommend that you go from Yunnan to Jiayuguan . . . the western end of the Great Wall. You can stop off in Chengdu if you want and go to Leshan and see the world's largest sitting Buddha statue. After seeing the Wall in Jiayuguan, you can go to Dunhuang and see the grottoes. You can then continue on to Xi'an to see the terra cotta warriors. From Xi'an, you can then head into Beijing or Shanghai. I don't know of many tour agencies inside China as I've always arranged my own travel.

Terra cotta warriors refers to a collection of life sized statues of soldiers excavated from Xian, China in 1974. It is made from clay and hence the name terra cotta.

These statues were buried with Emperor Shi Huang Di in about 210BC, purportedly to accompany the emperor into his afterlife.

Terra Cotta Warriors were created and buried with the First emperor of China, to protect him in his afterlife. They are life-sized figures with facial features and weapons and armor. There were over 8,000 soldiers along with chariots and horses and their purpose was to help the emperor rule another empire in the next life.

There were thousands of models of warriors of individual warriors each with their own facial features unearthed somewhere in either china or Japan, I cannot remember exactly.

Look up Terracotta Army on your address bar or askjeeves.com.
