well just earlier today when i got out of the shower i noticed quite a bad pain in my right breast. It is so bad that if i just barely brush it like on accident with my arm it hurts really badly. it hurts in the center of my breast, below the surface where my nipple is. i felt the area, and i noticed a lump is there underneath the surface. i compared it with my other breast to see if it was just breast tissue and i didnt find a lump... this is very strange and it has never happened before... i do tend to get breast tenderness before my period but this isn't the same feeling at all. this is really sensitive and painful. please anyone if you can help i would appreciate it so much.

if the area on the outside of the breast is red and warm then a mammary abscess; or mastitis would be an educated guess; however; you should see a doctor about this; with you saying that you get breast tenderness before your period to me suggest fibrocystic breast disease where BENIGN tumors can grow; and there are other benign tumors that are common as well but to ease your mind; you should see a doctor.

Hi Tulips47,
A lump in the breast probably happens to nearly every woman once in their lives. It could be something such as mastitis (infection of the breast). It could also be a cyst/an infected cyst. None the less, it is definitely something that you need to see the doctor about as soon as possible. I know what must be going through your mind, just go to the doctor, they will be able to diagnose whatever it is, hopefully it is nothing major. The doctor will likely send you for a mammogram and a breast ultrasound (make sure that the doctor sends you for both because sometimes the mammogram can be useless if you have dense breast tissue. My mom has dense breast tissue and fibrocystic breast. She has breast cancer, which did not show up on the mammogram, but was visible on the ultrasound and was confirmed on a biopsy). Try to keep calm- it may be hard, but on the other hand, becoming erratic won't help anything at all. Most lumps do not end up being breast cancer, but for your own sake, as well as your family, you must have it looked at. Don't be afraid of the doctor (as I have heard a number of gruesome tales of people who keep putting their plan to go to the doctor off, even in women with infected cysts). I am praying that everything will be okay- don't get worked up over it- hopefully it is just a cyst, which can be easily treated, but must seek attention even if it is that simple. Also, if you have any other questions, ask your doctor at your visit- there is no such thing as a stupid question. You seem like a very strong woman- don't let anything get you down. Good Luck:)!

I have a lump in my breast. It hurts if I lay on my side. I had a mammogram and it shows nothing. My doctor order an ultrasound but where I got my mammogram and was suppose to get the ultrasound they said it was up to the doctor there to decide if I needed an ultrasound and she didn't think it was needed. She told me if there is pain with a lump it is a good sign that it is just a cyst. They can't find the lump in the mammogram but it is there. You by all means need to have it checked out for your health as well as peace of mind. The more you feel it is the sorer it will get. So try not to bother it. If it is an infected gland you will make it worse.

The breast type might desire to be called "Rango and Rusty's awesome adventure" or Rango's renowned Mango's. edit: ohhhhhshit. I only re-examine your question, that section approximately "for mature respondents" is scaring me, i'm not mature, and you be attentive to this. Do I might desire to delete my answer now? :-(( sniff, sniff, needs to stay, i choose somehting to convenience me, if in basic terms . . . . . . . . sigh
