Your speed of computer depends on the following first please check: Present memory, you should have much memory left CPU speed, it should be of higher speed Does a lot of programs start when you turn on computer. If so try to run only that are important. Type a Run command "MSCONFIG" without quote mark then click Start Up tab and un check Programs you do not want to start at start up DO NOT un check if you are not sure then click OK. Finally, Clear Browser History, Trash Bin or use disk clean then Defrag After this if you have Video/Photos/Audios on Hard Drive make back up that will clear some memory. After doing all above if you find you could add more Memory or even change CPU with higher speed do it(If you got Desktop)in case of Laptop just add Memory if possible. By doing this you can speed up your computer. I hope this answer will help you

How To Clean Up The Windows Start Up Folder
The Windows Start Up folder can also be considered an automatic launch folder. This means that any programs and applications that are added to the Start Up folder will be automatically launched during the boot-up process. And the more programs and applications that are added to this Start Up folder the longer it will take for your computer to boot-up.
One can use this auto program launch feature to their advantage if they want to have Windows automatically load a few applications upon boot-up such as Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel by placing shortcuts to these programs within the Start Up folder. This way when they turn their computer on Word and Excel will automatically be opened and ready for use.
But sometimes this Start Up folder can become filled with program reminders that pop up and continually annoy you from time to time. For instance, after a person installs Corel Word Perfect Office Suite or a Hewlett Packard Deskjet printer, a registration reminder program is automatically added to the Startup folder if you do not immediately register your product during the install. Therefore, this technical brief will show you how to remove those unwanted programs from the Start Up folder.
For Windows XP
Begin by first clicking on the Start Button.
Then click on the Control Panel icon located in the right column of the Start Menu.
Now click on the Taskbar and Start Menu icon to display its Properties Window.
If your Start Menu is set to the Classic View, then begin by clicking on the Start Button.
Then click on Settings, then click on the Taskbar and Start Menu icon to display its Properties.
Now, click on the Start Menu Tab at the top of the screen.
Then Click on Customize button at the bottom right side of the screen.
Now Click on the Advanced button on the right hand side of the screen.
Windows XP will take you to the C:\Windows\Start Menu folder through Windows Explorer.
Now use your mouse to highlight any unwanted program shortcuts such as registration reminders.
Then press the delete key on your keyboard to remove them from the Start Up folder.
Continue to highlight and delete until you have satisfactorily removed all unwanted programs.
Then close the Windows Explorer Window and all open Taskbar Properties Windows.
And Reboot your Computer to initiate your changes.

Go to START > Control Panel > open folder START UP.
UNcheck any programs that you do not want to run when you start your computer,
EXCEPT I strongly recommend you leave your anti-virus software running.
To speed up your computer
a good amount of hard drive free space is needed for the virtual memory (virtual RAM) to give you the speed you need above your physical ram.
To do this:
Copy your personal files to a CD or DVD. Then you can access them from that media.
You can then delete them from your hard drive.
IN Add-Remove programs, delete the programs you don't use.
Add a second larger hard drive for storage purposes; and move many files to the second hard drive.
Leave your Operating System on your original hard drive. No need to create problems with moving them.
After all that is done use tools Disk Clean up
and Defrag your hard drive.
Then increase the size of your virtual memory to use the free hard drive space for extra speed.
========================
TO INCREASE VIRTUAL MEMORY ALLOCATION
1. Start> RIGHT click MyComputer > Properties >
2. tab for Advanced > frame for Performance > click button Settings
3. window Performance Options >
tab Advanced > Frame for Virtual memory > click button Change >
4. window Virtual Memory > Frame Paging File >
Before changing the paging file size note the Registry size frame amount, and subtract the amount you've set aside for Maximum registry size, from the free Drive space amount.
..........You can set your paging file up to the difference.
Example:
You see you have 2.5 gigs of free hard drive space.
Set
Minimum 800 < for WinXP
Maximum 2800 < gives you 2 Gigs of virtual memory on demand
5. click OK
6. Restart your pc
