TO KEEP THESE SORES FROM GETTING BIG IN THE FIRST PLACE, PLACE AN ICE CUBE OVER THE SORE WHERE THE ITCHY LIP IS. THIS WILL KEEP THE SORE FROM GETTING BIG. BUT DO IT WHEN YOU FIRST FEEL THE ITCH
CANKER SORES WILL COME UP DURING STRESS OR OTHER IMMUNE SYSTEM TRIGGERS.
UNFORTUNATELY, THIS IS A VIRUS WHICH LASTS A LIFETIME, BUT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE GIVEN TO OTHERS BY USING CAREFUL PLANNING.

I used to get serious canker sores all the time.
Anything poisonous (turpentine, rubbing alcohol, etc) will disenfect the sore and stop secondary infection, but only temporatily, and it will destroy the mucous membrane if you get it anywhere where there isn't a sore. Want to get a cancer sore guaranteed? Try this is the way to do it.

What I swear by, is: Brush you teeth with Listerine, original formula. Apparently modern toothpaste has sugar in it?!!?

There are two kinds of bacteria in your mouth, the kind that make tartar and plaque, and the kind that grow on your cheaks. Because you are always losing skin cells inyour cheeks, bactertia that live here must grow quickly, and as such are fairly harmless.

The ones on your teath however, don't have this problem, their best bet is to biuld defensive fortresses to claim the ground they have occupied, "Plaque" or "Tartar" there are some who beleive it is these same bacteria that cause hardening of the arteries.

So if these toothborn bacteria start to get settled on your cheeks, your imune system gets very worried and goes into overdirve, it closes off capiliaries to encourage skin to fall off and take the harmfull bacteria with it (kind of stupid i know, but I didn't design this system) This causes a canker.

if you brush your teeth with listerine you will selectively kill the toothborn bacteria causing your problem while leaving the beneficial cheek bacteria alone. (Why tooth paste, which is supposed to do this doesn't I can't answer, but it doesn't) This will immediatly make your cankers less painfull and they should heal in about 12-18 hours.

I always get turpentine at the drug store (you may have to ask the pharmacist for it). I put it on my lip at the first sign of a canker sore and it dries it up before it gets started. I have used this all my life and it really works.

Take some vitamin C everyday. Like 250 mg or so to prevent them.
When you have one, put some vanilla extract on it. It may burn a little (depending on the sore) but it'll clear it up in a hurry.
