If the area is red and puffy then that is where the splinter is at. Get a good light and a sharp pair of tweezers and some ice, locate the splinter then put ice on the spot to help numb the spot and then use the tweezers to get the piece of wood out. You will need to get it all out so you might need a needle to to be sure that all of the wood comes out from way down deep. It sounds really grouse and nasty and painful but it's not really that bad. It will be feeling better in no time and you will be much happier trust me!

You can attempt to remove the splinter yourself with a needle and tweezers. Make sure you sterilize them in rubbing alcohol first. Or you can use Flax Seed it is known as natures tweezers.
Or you can just wait it out, most times the body will reject any foreign object and the site will fester and work the splinter out on it's own in a few days.

An ear piercing gun forces a pointed earring through the ear, a body piercing is usually done with a tapered needle which produces a much safer result.

If you can dig it out with a needle, I would. If you can't, you can treat the area with triple action antibiotic and it will eventually work its way out.
