I have observed that those who love animals are always the kindest people. Sometimes animal lovers and I include myself in this, often strike non animal lovers as a bit mad.

Sometimes the non animal lover sees those people who are as insecure in there relationships with humans and distant from the real world. Do you think this is true? Debateable?

When animal lovers are in personal relationships does it suffer because of the affection and attention given to an animal.? I don't think so.

Have you ever felt jealous of a pet?

People who own cats have often been said to be more intelligent than those who own dogs, this is as result of the independence of ownership. In Britain there are 7 million cat owners and 6 million dog owners. A curious fact. More cat owners have university degrees, phds, and MA's than those who own dogs and other pets.

I have always thought those who don't own a pet are missing out. Pets have so much to give unconditionally this is not so with man.

I have had a cat for 10 years and I love it to bits. It doesn't talk back to you and it relaxes you to stroke it. My husband however is jealous of it and I use this to my advantage. When my husband and I have had an arguement it makes me feel so much better to spoil my cat! I even went out and spent £4o.oo on toys for it once cos I knew it would annoy him!
Men or cats? I know what I would choose!!!!

I believe there are diferent types of animals lovers , like anything else in life. Many opinions all differs from ech other, say for example i love my cat to death , but i know what my limitations are, before i see her suffering i rather put her to sleep , or if i see that a treatment is painful and expensive i will do the same. I believe in having animals the best way you can, but when your possibilities cant stretch enough and you cant pay for an expensive vet or medicine does that mean you dont love it? or in the other hand put an animal to last you longer because you like it, not thinking on its own suffering is not real love, so what is the limit? i dont know. I respect everybodys opinion but i also understand there are so many diferent minds in this world and as long as we all agree on not abusing our animals we all are in the same team. And those that dont have a pet for valid reasons, like allergies or kids at home, or traveling for work i understand but then i do have a problem with people that hate animals, many have crossed my path and they messed with the wrong cookie here. And usually is because they did something bad that had the animal react or respond in a bad way so i have no sympathy for that people. I could go on and on but i better stop here. I hope you find your answer to your questions.

My ex asked me to move in with him... but said I couldn't keep the cats. I told him that he'd better not make me choose, because he definitely wouldn't like the choice I made.

We split up about three days later.

I think the world is split into two categories - those who love animals and those who don't. I have always found that my best friends are animal-people. And, alas, that my boyfriends aren't. That'll be why I'm still single.

People do think I'm a bit odd when it comes to my cats, but then I'm a bit odd anyway.

I can honestly say that my personal relationships HAVE suffered because my boyfriends are ALWAYS jealous of my cats, and my cats are ALWAYS jealous of the boyfriends.

I love this question, by the way. It's great and really informative at the same time! I always knew cat-people were more intelligent than dog-people.... :-)

No not at all. Never have felt jealous of a pet. Have never met anyone who was jealous of a pet either.

Do not believe Cat owners are more intelligent than dog owners, as if only intelligent people owned cats they would know they are upsetting the eco system by harming other wild life in excess - ie birds and other animals also important to the eco system.

Dogs definitely do give unconditional love if they are not psychologically disturbed. Dogs need to be loved.

Cats are much more independant creatures and will respond to any one that wants to love them or feed them or let them do exactly as they wish basically. Cats don't need human love.

I have known a cat to be jealous of a boyfriend.

There are times in most peoples lives where they are without a pet, this could be due to any number of circumstances, it does not mean they have never owned a pet.

As a psychology student I think you have made quite a lot of inaccurate assumptions about people and their relationship with animals.

Recommend you review your beliefs and perhaps take an interest in how some other peoples' views may differ from you own.

Have a Happy weekend

I wouldn't say my partner gets jealous or similar. He knows i adore my cats but the attention is of a different kind! It probably annoys him that i let them 'get away' with certain things that he wouldn't.! I suffer a lot of pain and holding and stroking my cat/s can help to calm me down which my partner appreciates is a good thing.
I cant understand people who do not like animals and they are beautiful and fascinating creatures.
I also have always said that a house is not a home without a pet!

I agree that those who don't own pets are missing out on a wonderful experience. Yes, people have made remarks about my love of pets. I think that is their problem.
My boyfriend once remarked that I am too good to my German shepherd/Lab mix.
i don't see what the problem is. Remember you can always get another boyfriend but a good dog is a woman's best friend. (lol)

I have kept dogs most of my life, and I cannot imagine my life without at least one of my rottweilers, they are intelligent and gentle, company and guardians, they are great big soft lumps of love and devotion. When ever one of them dies I am devastated because I have lost them .One of them died a year ago this week and I still feel the pain of loosing her. They are all buried in my garden, in a small area where they are to-gether. I live in a huge old detached country house, with lots of land. It is far too big for me to live in, but I cannot leave here, because I cannot leave my faith full friends alone.
Yes I sound like a complete "nutter" don`t I ? Actually I am a very intelligent and astute woman, except when it comes to dogs, and then .....???

I think it is easier to love an animal because animals do love you back unconditionally. They don't cheat on you, don't backstab, they simple are, and they love you as they are. People could learn a lot from the animals.

My Cat, Snoopy , will be 23 in September. I Love Her As much, if not more than some members of my family! She was so ill the past fall and I was told to let her "GO"! ( she is old, can't last forever, be happy you had her this long, just get over it) Well! I never let her "GO"! She wakes me to this day, She reminds me, 'it is time to eat', To Play and pay ATTENTION! She soothes my SOUL! ( Cat owners are smarter, YES! God Bless)

I have never been jealous of an animal. I love animals, especially horses, but I am never jealous of one. I simply am amazed at all the amazing things they can do. Sometimes I think, 'wouldn't it be neat if humans could do that,' but I'm never jealous. I think if you have sunk so low to be jealous of an animal, then you need to make some changes in your life.
