A really good idea would be to make something up for your girlfriend in lydian mode, which is where you play a scale from the fourth scale degree. For example, you could play a C scale, but focusing on F. If you're not that good at making stuff up, it sort of depends on what your girlfriend is into. If she's into punk, there's a Frank Sinatra song that Richard Hell does a cover of in Blank generation called "All the Way." It's a pretty sweet song. If she's more into pop, you should go old school and learn a Beatles song, like "If I Fell." There's a lot of really beautiful love songs out there, you just have to look for them.
