I won't allow my children to post on any message board, or chat room, let alone yahoo Q&A. This is a place for adults only. Their are to many whackos who post discusting questions which arn't real.

Yahoo answers is a great website, but you should really have your parent check it out for you. There are allot of topics and questions that in my opinion is a little too much for a 14 or even 18 year old. If you don't want to get into trouble w/ parent, have them check it outMost of the topics are adult orientated. And just as a reminder never give out any info. There are allot of weirdos out there! Be safe little surfer:)

I'm a mother of two 4 year old boys and I helped my mother raise my baby sister.
If I were your mother I would be upset if:
1) You were giving out your personal info
2) Certain types of questions or answers...
For example something about dating or something illegal

Every parent is different, but those are probably the major ones. Share with them the site and have them look over it. Let them look at questions that you have (or want to) ask and any answers that you may have given out. Talk to them and tell them why you like this site. Ask them what they think. Show them the positive things that you have done.

They have the right to look at the web sites you visit - you live in their house and it's their money that bought the computer. They are just doing their job, as parents, and making sure you're NOT going into any ex-rated or porno sites. They also are making sure you're not going into sites where predators are stalking you - they are just trying to protect you that's all.
To put your mind at ease, sit down with them, show them what you're doing and ask if they thinks it's OK or not if you ask questions or answer questions - it's just that easy.
Parents will trust a child more if he/she is open with them.

There's a few things on this site your parents may prefer you not see, but you're not five. You're fourteen.

You can probably see for yourself that, for the most part, this site is pretty ok for young people.

There's a chance your parents could worry that you have asked questions of strangers that will get answers they don't want you to have. (I've often been very careful about what I say to teenagers because I don't want to say something I wouldn't want someone to say to my kids if they were that age.)

I think, though, I'd rather my teenager (if I had one) be on this site than on MySpace!

At lest you arent lookin at porn or gettin dates with 40 year old men. So i think your parents would be perfectly fine with the idea of you being on here. Just make sure you dont give out any info on here you never know about some people.

I don't see why your parents would have a fit over it, I know that if my kids were on here I would wonder why, but not be mad at them. If they do find out just tellthem you were looking for help to a homework answer, because this site does have a homework help part! GOOD LUCK

As a parent, the best answer for your question is for you to just ask your parents to check out the site and see if they think it's o.k for you to be on it. The internet is not a safe place. If your parents trust you to be on it then they trust you enough to know that if you are unsure of something you would come to them....Keep the trust and just ask.

Answers is a relatively safe site. I wouldn't be mad if my teenager was on it. But, all parents are different. If they get mad at you and threaten trouble, and you are innocent, tell them you'll give them your user name and password and that you have nothing to hide from them. They'll respect your maturity!

its ok because i would say this is a site where u can ask a question that even you parents might not know the answer, and then u can also learn here
