start thinking what you would like to take in college and what universities you would like to go to..... then, start daydreaming of the day you finally make it to graduation and all the plans you are hoping for once you start college....
this will motivate you to study hard knowing that soon it will all end and you will be finished with high school before long.....hours will go to days and days will go to months and then ....BAM! you are done and your high grades weren't really that hard to get.

Create a new document in Word. You can make a chart of your classes and the grades you're getting to figure out your GPA for each semester.
Here's where it may get complicated...
Lets say we start with Freshman Year, 1st semester. A student takes History, Biology, Algebra 2, and English 1, and these are not honors/accelerated courses, so grades are on the scale: A - 4 B - 3, and so on. At the end of the semester, he will get As in 3 of those classes and a B in 1 of them. Then comes the method.
You multiply the grades that you get by the credit value the class is worth. The academic classes will usually be worth .5 credits a semester. Then add all of those values and divide them by the amount of credits you earned for those classes (the ones calculated into the GPA). For the given example, you would calculate (4 x .5) + (4 x .5) + (4 x .5) + (3 x .5) which = 7.5. Then divide them by credits earned (four .5 credits = 2). So 7.5/2 would lead to a 3.75 GPA for the 1st semester.
Then for each subsequent semester, add your credit/grade and credits to your chart of those current values. This way, you can keep track of your grades, class rank, and strive to improve GPAs of each upcoming semester. Hope this helps, it showed me how my grades improved from my freshman year to my current 2nd semester senior year.
