So this has been bothering my a lot lately. I have a guy friend, who I've known for a while. At first, we were really friendly - laughing, joking all the time, scaring each other, talking, hanging out, etc. But now, he's really quiet around me. He doesn't talk to me as much, he hardly jokes around, and avoids me at times when we're with a group of people. When I try to talk to him, and he looks away and gives small answers, avoiding eye contact most of the time. He's just really different around me, and I don't know why, seeing as we were so close before. Help!

It sounds as though he does like you from all the flirting that has happened. There are two possible scenarios that I can think of. The first one is that he realized just how much he likes you from all the flirting and hanging out with you and this has kind of shaken him up a bit. This happens to guys, a lot of guys. When they get scared they back off and tend not to be quite as open or flirty as they once were. He might come out of it and realize that even though this feeling scares him, he wants to be with you more than he wants to feel scared. The second scenario is that he's just plain stupid and just wants to be friends even though he has clearly lead you on to believe that there's something more between you two.

For your sake, I sincerely hope it's the first one. But truthfully, the only way you will find out is to ask him what is going on. Yes, this is hard but not knowing is much harder than actually asking.

I wish you the best of luck!

He may have started having romantic feelings for you and does not know how to tell you being that he does not want to ruin the friendship. You should ask him why the change in his behavior and ask is everything okay with him because he is not being himself. On the other hand he may have a lady he likes but being close to you may feel awkward with her and she may not like it so much. But I think he may have feelings for you.

hmm...maybe he like is starting to fall in love with u and he doesnt want to screw it up. i know guys who act really nice and sweet until they realize they really REALLY like the girl and then their afraid of messing the relationship up by saying or doing something.

try not saying anything and be normal, but if its really bothering you, ask him about it. the worst thing is that he says "i dunno". but dont be too over confrontational...that might scare him off or make him think your mad at him.

good luck :)

Perhaps he has been teased by his friends of his closeness to you. Thus, he is trying to downplay the 'friendly' part... if that is the case, he's no friend of yours.

It's happened to me. Trust me, I'm sure it'll get back to normal. Start another conversation if he's in the mood. ;)
