No, I don't really think most doctors would do that. Maybe if it was affecting your health, but I was diagnosed with depression last year and my doctor just offered me a prescription for Wellbutrin.

If you go to the doctors with bad depression and panic attatcks he will almost certainly sign you off. He will put the reason on your sick note. It would range from 2 weeks to a month but you can ask for less or more.
Depression is a real and physical and disabling illness, never be afraid to go or of any repurcusions at work or from anyone for that matter.

It depends on how bad off u r, but if you want anything permanent you will still have to go through social security for disability as well. You may be able to get some FMLA too but you will have to be honest with your employer as they will need to see the reason from your doctor anyway. Most employers need a drs. excuse by the third day and the dr. can't lie for you. It's not anything to be ashamed of. Seek help and via counseling, anti depressants or whatever else they suggest. Good luck.

for one thing, if you get out of having to go to work they are going to need to get a note from the doctor who is taking you out of your job, and he will tell them why. How long you will be out, will depend on what is going on, and how long it is going to take you to get better to go back to work, so every once in a while the doctor will have to let them know that you can not return to work yet, plus your job, the insurance has the right to know what the problem is and how it is going. So that is how it is going to be, and if you are ashamed of being depressed well you should not be, cause there are millions of people out there that have the same problem as you do. If you are bad enough, you could end up on SSI or SSA, SSD.

Depression is a real illness and your doctor will have a lot experience of dealing with people in your situation.
If he feels that you are too unwell to attend work he may well give you a sick-line. as you are not admitted to hospital it may be on a week to week basis where you will have to return for review. he is obliged to put the nature of your illness on the sick-line.
if you request he may right stress rather than depression- for some reason people often prefer this.
get well soon. x

When your GP assesses you, they will be able to tell how bad you are. They will probably ask you to fill a questionaire, and this will indicate how bad you are. Normally you would be given medication, and ask to see you in a fortnight. If you are really bad, as I get, you may get a sick note for two weeks, then go back after that to see how you are doing, and if need be, will issue you with another. They may also arrange for you to see someone else for counsilling. You must tell the truth about why you are down, because you will get the proper care you need.

It depends upon the diagnosis, first your doctor will get you off for a while. Then they set you up with a government psychiatrist - I passed his test I have been disabled for 9 years on state disability and then on social security disability (yes I told the total truth) and now I am on 5 psychiatric medications just to keep me from hurting myself (and I am not allowed to see my children)

i beg peace yet peace isnt a fashion vogue. Which an outstanding sort of minor women dont comprehend. Being a pacifist is a existence-form and individuals who only flash peace signs and indications simply by fact the think of its cool have not have been given any theory. i in my opinion think of anybody might desire to be a pacifist yet human beings might desire to end flashing peace signs and indications while they have not have been given any theory related to the peace circulate interior the 60s and 70s and that they have got not have been given any theory what being a pacifist ability

it depends on what type of meds he puts you on. i remember when i switched antidepressants, i had to be admitted to a ward for juveniles (i was younger) for a week while they monitored my progress with the new pills.
but, they made me lose my mind because my doc switched me so quickly from the older ones, i felt like i was someone else and it made me very irritable. i got papers from my doctor to take off school for the week i was monitored and a week after to recover.
like i said, you'd have to talk to your doc, tell him that if he puts you on pills you don't want to freak out at work and compromise your job.
