I feel for you...my child is diagnosed with bi-polar and ODD. and sometimes I think that if I have to deal with this anymore I will just loose it. I pray a lot and try to separate the illness from my son. I try to make the most of the moments when he lets me near him, I remind myself that he is a gift and to accept the things about him that are hard. I suggest contacting CABF it is a child's bipolar organization they really help...and remember you are not alone and I am sure you are being the best parent you can be.

I don't have that issue with my child but my answer is first, make sure the diagnosis is correct, maybe get a second opinion. If you're sure it is, my answer is to pray for strength. My 9 yr old doesn't have any issues and is difficult to deal with. It doesn't sound like a fun combination. Best of luck!

i was diagnosed with ADD when i was 11 and in 6th grade. im now 13. i had so many issues. i always forgot my homework and all my teachers hated me because they thought i just didnt try, and i do! i just forget! my parents would go in and talk to the teachers who were really mean. one of my teachers said to my mom "you parents just like to have your kids on medication" that was at a public school. i dont really do anything about it, i just try to do my best to do what people want of me. i take extra notes and write everything down. i still forget homework and when i get in trouble for that i just try not to take it personally, i know i did my best, and im still trying no matter what they say. feel free to email me if ya want.

Your son's school counselor will have a lot of local information and contacts to share with you.
It's so hard for the mom. I hope you find the correct medical help for him and the right meds, so he can have a normal childhood. All kids deserve that.

In order to help you relax and deal with this you are going to have to make time for yourself. Rely on family for helkp as well even if it is just visiting with him for a couple of hours.

Are there some support groups, either local or online, that can assist you? That's a lot for you to handle.

You just have to nod when they talk to you like your listening. Keep them busy ; if they're doing something else they're not annoying you.

Hey that's something the doctor just think it is. He's actually a bad seed and he knows that you aren't going to discipline him/her so try spanking his behind.
