Okay so i had 2 tooth extraction 9 days ago (dec25) and i've finished taken the antibotics on this tuesday and i have not felt any pain not even within the first day or week but the thing that is scaring me is my tooth on my lower left jaw, it wasnt a wisdom tooth or anything just a regular tooth; it had to be extracted due to decay. But its been one week and the condition looks to be the same, white stuff keeps forming on top and falling off and the stitches already came off but im wondering why its still not recovered yet because everytime the white stuff falls off i see the same blood cott and im scared that it still might be able to dislodge and ill be able to get a infection such as dry socket.
Is this normal recovery or am i doing something to disrupt the healing process; i have been eating yogurt and soft food all week.

There is no pain whatsoever, its been day 9 since my surgery and they didnt need to cut my gums to get to the tooth so i was wondering if my situation was normal or not; because i've read alot about those white layering stuff forming and people say its tissues and some say its puss created to prevent infections; so is there any dentists or dent. assistance that can confirm that ?

The first indication of infection would be swelling and then the pain would accompany that. What your probably seeing in the socket is just the normal healing process or maybe some food particles that have lodged there. Just rinse your mouth with warm salt water several times a day especially after eating and you will eventually see the hole close up. Avoid peroxide it tends to be too harsh on the healing tissue. After this much time a dry socket wouldn't be a consideration. Those happen within the first 24 hours where the clot is dislodged and the bone is left exposed causing excruciating pain. Your doing fine after having two removed so relax. If you're not sure or just want to have it checked by the Dentist, call them next week. I'm sure they will see you and put your mind at ease. Good luck!

In response to your additional comments, yes I work in dentistry and you had what we call "simple extractions" no sutures, no incision or sectioning for the removal, and your doing fine from what you've described to me. It sounds like you've followed home care instructions precisely! So just relax and if you're still concerned just let the dentist take a look, he won't mind at all. It's all part of our jobs.

YOUR SOCKET IS OK!

While the gum heals quickly after a tooth extraction, the bone takens a bit longuer, up to 3 months.

The bone healing fills the socket. Therefore food will buildup in it for a few weeks after the surgery.

A dry socket can happen up to four days after the extraction, so I wouldn't worry about it after 9 days.

I would advise you to rinse with water and salt.

Go to the dentist. Dry socket can be bad.

All those foods have sugar. Bacteria loves sugar. Try rinsing your mouth out with hydrogen peroxide. This will kill the bacteria.

Does it hurt like a son of a b*tch? If not, then don't worry about it, it's fine.
