Forget the vaseline or other pastes/gels that are available to "control" hairballs--I have never found them to work well. I have been feeding my 4 cats Iams Hairball Control dry food for years now, and it helps considerably. They still have the occasional hairball, but MUCH less often than they did with "grocery store" brands. Also, the grocery store brands have a lot of extra food colors in them that can stain furniture or carpeting when the food is regurgitated. Since Iams is more nutritionally dense, it means more of what they eat is absorbed by their bodies (also a smaller serving size), which means less waste in the cat box... And less poop to scoop is always good!

Not at all...in fact, if you have a long haired cat, it's a good idea! Iams has several different hairball formulas. I feed my cats the weight management hairball food everyday, and they are in great shape...and no hairballs!

No its ok. But you can acquire a variety of dry catfoods. Keep them mixed in a metal can.
For hairballs you can also apply vasoline like stuff on cats paws that being made for that tastes good.

My Cat is 22! Raised on IAM'S! BUT, when I Tried the Hairball formula,"she was not happy"! CRIED HALF THE DAY, IN PAIN, OBVIOUSLY, I Took HER OFF IT AND SO FAR, SO GOOD! Still on IAM'S , But not the hairball thing! I would so much rather pick up the FURBALL than see "Her" suffer! Wouldn't You?

Check the back of the bag of cat food. It should have instuctions on daily feeding amounts and how long you should feed it.
