We have a week off for spring break the 2nd week of March. Would trout fishing be better in Northern Arkansas or in Eastern Tennesee during that time of year? We have been to both places many times and love both places. It is a hard decision to make. Any suggestions?

The Holston River in eastern Tenn. is a great spot for early spring fishing. The bottom release dam at South Holston Lake keeps the water cold year 'round which really helps the trout. There are also many small streams that have trout that are near this area if you like to fish the in mountains. It's a beautiful area with great trout fishing.

The Little Red River in Arkansas holds the world record for Brown trout at 40 lbs. It is mostly fly fishing as the water is crystal clear unless you get some rain. Some folks there use a spinning outfit with flies too though with clear floats. It is a great fishery and for the size of fish it can't be matched !!
