straight into a modern day nightclub? I'm talking about a club with loud music and flashing lights -- not just a bar.

I'm guessing his only possible conclusion would be that he was in Hell. Anybody disagree?

Probably not. Technology has advanced the way we play our music, and the way we throw our parties. But people have partied since the dawn of time. It might take him a while to adjust, but I doubt he'd think it was hell.

the reverse is also true: if we transported to a 16th century city it would certainly not be a pleasant experience. We are all products of our age.

Why not a gay bar? If he then happens to make out with a couple of transvestites, then Sodomy would be widely accepted by the Church.
