I live in a new home and my living area gets major sunlight through the front window..I have a shade now, but I keep thinking I need some sweeeet verticals that will block the light (as well as nosey people). A friend told me they were "so out"! What's a hip chick to do?

Yeah, pretty much so. Get room darkening curtains if you want to completely block out light. If you want to tone it down the just some normal curtains. You can combine those with some sheers and have full control. That way, you can using any pattern of fabric that fits your hip image.

Vertical blinds are not out of style I love being hip in my room and I have vertical blinds. I like them because u could close them and open them easily,but make sure to get them a little longer then the window, but not so long that they touch the ground because then they will be hard to close and open(they willget stuck).

Vertical blinds look sooo office -like and are definitely out!
I bought some horizonal wood colored blinds and they look fabulous! I put see through curtains over them. You can get more light during the day if you want by using the pull back hooks that come with the curtain rods. DONT BUY VERTICAL BLINDS, THEY ARE UGLY!!

I've seen some bamboo sliders that are vertical and look hip - wider panels than those old vertical blinds. Think they have them at www.jcp.com

Vertical blinds are definitely a no-no for today's modern homes. Wide blade horizontal (vinyl or wood) and/or curtains are in.

vertical blinds are way out. horizontal blinds are in. and they are much for functional.
If your looking to save some money get the faux ones they look like wood but are vinyl. home depot will cut them to size for you for free.

Honey yes they are all the way out. I'm getting mine done now. The vinyl/wood or faux wood blinds are the ones that you want to get.
