We've been to church. We've heard about "God" that is angry, punishing, anti-woman, anti-gay, anti-everything. We don't choose that God. Maybe some have chosen to believe there can't be a God, if that's all there is. I, for one, have come to believe that Jesus was a wonderful man. That "God" is the universal energy that brings life...and SHE is Mother Earth, a kind loving energy that nurtures and loves.
Fear-based religion is a man-made fallacy used to torture and manipulate, rather than provide sustenance.

Some people have had such a hard life it's hard to believe in something they can't see. It's even harder to believe that the God they hear about would leave them to suffer. Others believe in science. Which again gives them doubt in something they can't explain. Some are just jerks that have no real opinion of their own. They're just following a crowd of people they think have the answers. Then there are people like myself. I believe in God or a creator. I believe in a heaven like place. Only because I don't think anything could be worse than Earth. I just don't believe in the Bible. I think it is a man made book of half truths. I believe it's the Bible that brings so much doubt and nonbelievers. I went to church as a child and young adult. I was made to study the Bible. Instead of answers it left me with questions. Way to many contradictions leaving me wondering. Well that's my little bit of insight.

Why does everyone assume church is so bad? I say it's idealistic, but everyone could be putting their time and energy into a lot worse things. Believing that there is something better waiting for you after you have suffered for so long isn't sad/pathetic, for some people it gives them a reason to go on. Believing that there is a higher power that has a plan for your life and created you just the way you are isn't a bad thing. Believing that someone you didn't even know would die for you out of love isn't horrible. Maybe it's not what everyone believes, but I think it is a truly beautiful thing that someone can still believe in what is unseen, in this day and age especially.

Yes, I've been to church, I have also been to seminary school. I was a Christian for about 20 years. I no longer worship your God for both moral reasons and because I don't believe that omnipotent beings exist. Why? Because the very notion is illogical and contradictory and I find the God of the bible to be sadistic.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

I went to chuch, read the bible and prayedto God for 17 years until I could no longer justify what I believed and continue to be a christian. I do have a spiritual faith its just not in the Christian version of God.
There is a whole world out there and most are not Chrisitan, most do not believe in the devil (therefore are not devil worshippers) and as a result do not believe in heaven or hell.
Most of us agree Jesus lived and was a man, we just disagree he was the son of God.
Remember although Christiaity is very prevelant in America, the rest of the world is very different (I'm assuming you are american from the y'all) They even teach about big bang theory and evolution without any problems in England, its accepted science by the majority of the public here.

There are a lot of non believers. They are known as doubting thomases. As Jesus referred to Thomas after the resurection, Thomas demanded proof. He was given proof and then believed. I have always believed, but sometimes satan still puts the thought in my head, that maybe its not real. I have received proof but even though I tell people about it, they don't see it as proof, they just think I was delusional, or wishfull thinking or something. Why would God show us proof that he exists, if he wants us to have faith? Jesus said that people who don't see proof, yet still believe are blessed. I am thankfull that I was taught about Jesus at a young age and have been given the gift of faith. Best wishes.

There are all types of people here. Being on Message Boards and this kind of thing can help you to reach people, but you have to understand them first.
There are Muslims, Atheists, Wiccans, Agnostics, Gnostics, Roman Catholics, Protestants, Mormons, and Jews here.
So here and on the Message Boards you might learn something. Be patient and learn wisdom. All the cliche thinking that many Christians have won't work here. The power of God is necessary to gain wisdom, and to learn to trust Him more.
There is much labor to do here, but the laborers are few.

Actually i HAVE been to church. I even went to Sunday school as a child for a year or so and went to different services in different churches. I even sang in a church choir at Christmas one year. I just don't believe in god or religion. I think churches can be beautiful places and I enjoy going inside and looking at them, especially in europe. But the unfortunate thing is that a lot of the people filling up the pews are not the best people in the world and look down on others for not having their beliefs.

I think the nonbelievers are turned off by many of the clumsy unsophisticated ways that Christians try to advance their beliefs.

Nothing is up with me. I do not believe in heaven, jesus as god, or any god because there is no evidence to support the existence of any of the above.
Yes, I have been to church.
