I had two birds that totally loved each other, well fed, totally loved, healthy, happy birds, but then they layed eggs and that seemed to be the end. I found the female and her eggs dead at the bottom of my cage within a week. The male was jumpy and scared, and died within weeks...I just did not understand. I wondered what happened.

Adam, it's just a coincidence. I used to think that non-green parakeets were not as friendly because my blue parakeet would avoid me for the first few years and green ones were always on my shoulder. But then the blue one became tame and out went that theory. Parakeets are like people in this regard. They are many different colors and very beautiful because of those differences but for the most part there are no specific tendencies toward any specific behavior depending on color.

I had a pair that had multiple clutches of babies. The pair singled out one of the young and killed it. I rescued it multiple times...then used a mark to determine it was the same chick each time. They cared for all the other chicks so I figured it was something that they could sense about that chick in particular. Other possibilities? Broody birds are a little moody...does this qualify as crazy? If you had one first and they saw the cage as "theirs" it might be territorial.

Hi there. Highly unusual but female birds coming of age of sexual maturity can be very aggressive and abusive. Some are more likely to behave this way with a nest of eggs. I'm sorry for your loss. Have they mated? May things get better soon for you and your bird.

I have no true answer for this, but there are many customers that come into our store with stories about how they've tried getting a certain bird (always small ones) a cage mate/mate, but it ends up killing all of them. I have not read or heard of an explanation for this yet, but it's not uncommonly heard of.

u are the crazy one. if u see them fighting seperate them dont keep them in the same cage and expect them to talk it out. they didnt like each other. simple as that if u have any other birds keep an eye out for them.
