really any breed that is fast and can take nice tight turns with just the right amount of pocket, and will listen to you when you tell it to move in or out towards the barrel. but i'm a barrel racer i don't normally do calf tieing, roping, and all those other events.

Hi there;

You could go with a Q horse. They are all fine athlectic mounts.
However, if you do with a Q horse then look closely at the bloodlines. Certain Q horses are built for speed rather than the ability to cut and turn.
The best horse you could put under you is the one that is built correctly and moves cleanly. Do not discount any breed but look for type instead.
You want a horse that has short spurts of lightning speed coupled with the ability to roll back . That means check each joint and the back. Look closely at the hoof. See if you see any signs of interference on the heels of the shoes.
Look for a strong, solid hind end (where the power engine is) and a deep chest (front end is balance).
I always watch a horse while it is in a pasture. I watch how it places it's hooves when it moves in its natural gaits. I ask myself "what is right about this horse" and go from there.
Watch another person sit the horse before you get on him.
I ride a horse with my legs so I ask myself how much leg can I put on this horse when I look at a new horse.
I do not make buying decisions based on breed but rather on type of job or work I will be doing with any given animal.
My advice to you would be to look for half bloods instead of true bloods. They have more sense IMHO. A good half blood combo for the rodeo ring would be Q horse/ Arabian. However, if you have your heart set on a good all round honest horse of pure stock then go with a Canadian, American Q Horse, or American Western Curly Horse. Either way you go, do go for type as you will find all sorts of great talent in many breeds. :)

Be well friend.

i'm superb with horses leaping! is rather, it rather is. i don't opt to work out a super grownup leaping a 2 365 days previous pony 5ft, yet a lifelike rider, horse, and top of leap could be only superb. Rodeo horses are superb, too. In greater rodeos, whether or not a cowboy/cowgirl gets paid relies upon on how nicely they carry out, and this definitely relies upon on their horses wellness and education. You wont hit upon a horse with extra sensible care. Polo is... i don't be attentive to. i think of it is okay, yet you do get some nasty injuries each specifically circumstances. for my section, Steeplechase is suicidal. it rather is a hundred% risky, yet polo, i think of it is all suited. i will smack my horse on the shoulder with a crop if he's being naughty. as an occasion, as quickly as i grew to become into driving english with out stirrups (you will possibly desire to understand I had in no way ridden english before and this horse had VERY bumpy gaits.) and we'd desire to be trotting alongside, and my horse could all of sudden spin around and flow the alternative course (roll-over or in spite of those are called) and yank the reins out of my palms. nicely, I smack (it rather is the incorrect term, yet I cant think of of something extra sensible) him on the shoulder, interior the recommend time grabbing the reins from his neck. finally, he stopped. if so, I had no different thank you to self-discipline my horse. i does not beat him over the pinnacle, nevertheless.
